Hope you're happy with the 550...I love the new 5 series. I saw a 535 with MFG plates on a flatbed today and couldn't help but think HPFP, though in reality it was probably just a dealer transfer
It makes the '08 look really outdated. I had a new 550 behind me yesterday, the corona rings were bright white, very sweet.

Picked up the car today, they replaced the low fuel pressure sensor only. Took it out of the shop, turned the corner, stepped on the throttle, and WHAM!! half-engine light.
Barely made it back to the dealership, it was rougher than it's ever been.
The dealer said they can't get to it until Monday, I'm not expecting it back until Tuesday, probably with the same HPFP in it, but something else replaced.
My '11 328 loaner just doesn't cut it. BUT, I am glad I got a loaner. I didn't when I took it in on Tuesday.

Quick question; if you have this issue and you have a tune, intake, exhaust, would they try to avoid performing the work under warranty when obviously it shouldn't be the cause?

I'd yank all that shit out before going in. Nuts if you don't at least remove tune.

I experienced the same thing. It's so strange that it's acceptable to BMW, the dealerships, and owners. Nobody who you tell such a story to, friends, relatives, say they would tolerate it. It's a car, not a space shuttle. It can be fixed, just that they don't want to spend the time/money to properly diagnose it. Honestly? I think it takes about 5 trips to the dealership to get a 335 fixed, because by the 5th trip, they are doing diagnostics and end up keeping the car for a week. Seriously, you (anybody out there) think a 335i is not repairable?

I have now had three fuel pumps. Every time before when I went in BMW replaced no issue. This time they made me go through the same routine as others here. I.e software update first. They charged me $300 for the reflash because of my dinan tune. They refused to honor din an warranty even though they sold me the tune. Second visit they replaced fuel sensor. I am still getting engine limp / reduced power.

I have been in situations like others where car has stopped completely in traffic. This is very dangerous

Would a plaintiffs attorney please take up our case? Most states have treble damages for consumer fraud.

Is this a trick question for anyone with a buyback? Just a thought; but it would seem to some of the people posting, they have tried to get their cars fixed. All they are getting is excuses over flawed designed and poorly trained service personnel. I think they are a little tired over the flim-flam. What would happen is the car came off the line flawed right out of the gate...? Some cars are hit or miss.....it's just life. It is unfortunate the "hit or miss" ratio is extremely high. I am hopeful the new 933 pump is part of the answer.

Plenty of lawyers out for that; just check the web. I find it hard to believe they would not call Dinan for justification. I hope you get a new 933 pump in the duration.

Just a hunch...as I do believe that a 335i can be fixed in about 5 visits to the dealership. The stories of, "I got my software updated and the car died on the way home" are really maddening.

Think about how complicated a modern smartphone is nowadays, that we carry in our pockets. If say an email program sends multiple emails to addressees (true story, that co. that beings with a Y and ends in a !) every 20 min., there is a sense of urgency, and they fix the app. With BMW, when a 335i dies on the road, even a 2k10 that is in the 4th production year, there is NO urgency. And there is a desire to NOT have to shell out time, labor, and parts to fix the problem. I don't honestly believe they think they can push the ultimate repair out 48 mos. so the car is out of warranty. What I do think is there is some sort of cash flow model which dictates that they cannot fix all the cars at once, so put the burden on the owner to come back if they really can't live with a car that dies unexpectedly on the road. And don't fix it on the second return to the dealership, make it about 5, they may give up and let us put them into another car (if a lease, more $$$ for BMW).

Hey, I hope you are right; I just don't want too many buybacks and lawsuits to knock the value out of my car. The faster the car is fixed, the better. I don't think people give in to a lease though. I do believe they would unload their buyback for another bimmer.

Just stalled out on a complete stop...engine malfunction... this is my 3rd pump...last replaced 4 months ago with the latest HPFP...not even 2000 miles.

Limped all the way home. When I powered off...I started the car back up and it fired up without malfunction? So what the hell?

Probably not the HPFP. My car behaved like that, SES light for 4 days, then amazingly turned off the morning that I went to the dealership. Very frustrating as it would take 2 more appts. before anything got done.

car had it's third fuel pump replace last fri. So it'd be 1st@2200,2nd@11k and third at 20k, car currently has 21k and it's only year old. Talking to gm about doing a trade assist to a x5d. Hopefully he can help me out with an awesome deal on it, and i won't get owned for them pricing the current value of my car. Otherwise, I have a lemon lawyer just waiting for me to continue with the process of trying for a lemon. Hopefully I find out real soon. I'll keep ppl updated if you want.

Typical posted scenario; sorry to hear it. Can you post the part numbers of the latest two pumps? It would be appreciated.
