Just picked up a Nokia Lumia 920 with Windows Phone 8 today. Pairs fine, but won't connect afterwards.

I had an Original Samsung Focus that worked before with no issue.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2. Bluetooth didn't pair at all with stock Android, so I started using MIUI and everything works great. Contacts, calls pair, and voice quality is fine.

Bluetooth contact syncing = SUCCESS! (2010 e90, NAV, Android)

After lots of tinkering and searching, I was finally able to get my contacts to sync from my HTC Rezound to iDrive in my 2010 335d. I could pair it up just fine, and phone calls through the stereo system worked, but contacts would not sync. It just kept spinning and spinning...

There are a lot of other threads that describe some basic troubleshooting steps, such as properly pairing your bluetooth, granting permission to share contacts and recent calls, etc. but this solution was a bit more involved and I didn't see too many similar success stories so wanted to share this one.

Between searching BMW enthusiast forums and Android forums, it seemed like some Android phones worked while others didn't. How I got mine to work was to ditch HTC Sense and run a ROM based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project, or 'plain vanilla' Android). This eliminates the HTC user interface layer called Sense. This may or may not also apply to Motoblur (Motorolla's user interface) and TouchWiz (Samsung). I suspect that something in the way that Sense handled or communicated contacts over Bluetooth was not standards-based or just plain wasn't understood by iDrive.

Anyhow, I won't go into detail on how to backup your phone and flash a new ROM (barely survived the process myself, LOL!), as these processes are covered in android-based forums. Just sharing my success story, as I am excited to now be able to use this feature in my car!!!

Usual disclaimers apply. Pursue at your own risk!

Android resources for DIY ROM upgrades:
http://www.xda-developers.com/
http://www.cyanogenmod.org/
http://forums.androidcentral.com/

Phone:
HTC Rezound (Sensation-family) on Verizon
ROM = CyanogenMod 10.1
Android version = 4.2.2 Jellybean

Relevant Options on my 2010 e90 335d include:
ZPP - Premium Package (Bluetooth interface)
6FL - Ipod & USB adapter
609 - Hard Drive-Based NAV
6NF - Smartphone Integration (anybody know what this might enable??)
639 - BMW Assist (Bluetooth interface)

I have a 2009 E90, with iDrive (pro?), and I'm having absolutely no luck getting my galaxy note 2 to work with the iDrives messages display. Contact sync and phone calls work great, including call history, but messages just doesn't work. Has anyone gotten that function working in their 335, and what phones are compatible?

Thanks!

Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T version works perfectly.

Song names show up in iDrive over Bluetooth.

Nexus 5 pairs with 09 E92. Phone calls work fine, contact list transfers fine but as usual without A2DP support - navigation, music and other media functionality does not come through the car. Google Now is pretty much useless in my car while everything on the iPhone just works.

2010 335 xi sedan...I suppose I have the older software for idrive. Is is possible to update to allow USB access for iPod/iphone 5s? When I plug in, 'not supported' comes up. According to the BMW website, the software cannot be updated in models manufactured prior to 2010. Also, to trying to upload music from iPod, seems like this is not possible? I'd rather not go to dealership for these answers.

I just swapped from Blackberry Z10 to IPhone 6, connectivity wise the Z10 wins hands down.

With the Z10 I had full message access, iPhone is pretty much useless and random with messages showing when they want.

To top it off, when the Z10 was connected to the car it showed a BMW icon on the lock screen and showed all available functionality.

As a business user id say the Blackberry 10 OS is better than iOS, if Blackberry had similar app support I'd never have been tempted to change device.

S7 Edge recently updated to android 7.0 does not pair at all with my 07 335i e92. When pairing, I enter the code on both phone and iDrive, car says: 'Pairing Successful', and shows the phone in the 'connected phones' list, but on the phone the BMW-XXXX does not go in the paired devices list. The phone dissapears from the car 'Paired Phone' in 20-30 seconds or when navigating away from that menu page. Any ideas?

P.S., before the update it was connecting fine, and also tried my old HTC One M8(android 4.2) to test if the fault isnt with the car, and that pairs perfectly fine

Me three....S7 won't pair for longer than 8 seconds....trying to research and find if I can swap a 2011 HU in there, but having a hard time finding out if the BT has been upgraded in 4 years (2007 328xit E91).

yeah man we are in the same boat... the issue is not our cars. Its the Bluetooth version the new android 7.0 has. Its not backwards compatible.

Please correct me if I am wrong... anybody?
