Enrita, that timing seem pretty low. I was running 20psi midrange, with 16 degrees of timing on E50 +meth with no drops!

Car was eating tarmac. I hope my new car proves to be as amazing and reliable as the old one. That engine never complained, misfired etc... even at 89k miles

Which dme did you have? I have now IJEOS and i think is way too sensitive. Also corrects a lot post shift/flatline. I am running a software from nov 2012.

my old car, which is the one I described, had MSD80. The new one is MSD81 and IJeOS, and yes I just feel I need to run less timing or else corrections appear consistently.

it's killing me honestly...

So you think it's a DME revision thing where it was made more sensitive and has a lower threshold?

How much did you use to run before? boost/timing wise. Hell I was running 15.5 midrange

See its the crappy dme :-) i could run like 12-14 before on E50 no issues but the engine was badly rebuilded and never performed right. Hopefully cobb can fix this dme...
If i run like 10 degrees now post shift drops like -15 on 3-4 cylinders

oh shit!! that sucks big time, I'm glad I don;t have AT.

so it's not the engine after all, it's the stupid updated software ...

I'm hoping to make as much power with the new car if not more due to healthier turbos I hope the DME won;t stop me from doing that

well that's craptastic. I have this dme. but if I'm just running FBO stage 2+ agg. OTS you think I'll be fine? I know, I'll log data! But I don't have my DPs on right now so I'm running stage 1+ aggressive.

Well i had to lower timings on the ots 93 octane but i have bigger turbos.
My engine runs great now compaired to the old one. Is pretty fast and smooth. I am happy with it as it is. Already difficult to actually put down all that power.

Correct i had misfire cylinder 5 on high boost with the typical dne code for broken msd80. Basically i was not getting spark there so they changed and recoded but problem persisted. They lifted the head and well cylinder 5 wall was scuffed. So i got a second hand engine with 25 k miles on

gonna test my low timings and low boost maps to see how the car behaves, than i will probably try stacking jb4 G5 ISO. apparently thats the only way to make the dme happy but dont like i cannot log all cylinder timings... cylinder 1 flatlines and drops too so if that one is happy i guess the others are as well

well on my car, I wanted a setup that's easier to remove for warranty and what not.

I already have COBB and will be using for fuel, timing. JB4 G5 ISO will do some boost, and the meth control.

I will setup a solid ATR map and let the JB4 lift the boost a bit and take care of the meth.
I will also try running a BMS backend flash to see whether it's a better way to go.

not being able to log all cylinders is a huge downside if you ask me. Based on my ATR maps now, cylinder 1 is the least prone to timing corrections to the point where I have seen it once during literally more than 50 logs on the different atr revisions I've done on my car. Cylinder 5 is the naughty one and unfortunately I won;t be able to log. That's why I'm thinking to have a full fledged map under JB4 vs having a backend only meant for fuel and timing.

what do you think

well i probably think what you are thinking.... knowing my cylinder 1 is dropping constantly i am quite ok stacking but i wont run overly aggressive. i want to see if it makes a change post shift holding 18.5 psi which is quite easy on my turbos. After testing latest maps i will put G5 on and see. i dont want to run meth additive and such. just E70/E85 with IAT reduced from a CM5.

sounds like a plan. so will you just run map 7 for instance?

for me meth is for cooling but also to ease the pain of my LPFP

Are most Cobb owners tuning and changing variables themselves?

Apart from the standard maps, what are people doing to customize? I'm hearing alot of raving about Pro Tuning Freaks, and the results they are getting on Cobb.
