Now I wonder whether a X3 20e is going to happen as well? I don't think anybody has heard of it? But seeing how the 320e is very close to the 330e from a technical PoV (trunk space hasn't changed, so battery size/placement seems identical as is the electrical motor, just the B48 got detuned), it'd be easy to do for the X3 as well.

The space between the X and M are important here since this is definitely some type of performance iX model. There will be no electric XM, and hence no "iXM" (without the space ).

So what is the opinion of the community for this and does ynguldyn have any evidence of the hatchback style for G26?

BMW officially said in January that the official reveal of i4 will happen in a few months, so it would mean that we should see G26 final photos around March. I would say early March, because F36 GC was revealed in March 2014 in the very same Geneva Motor Show, which traditionally opened early March. Of course this year the show will not be kept, but the schedule should remain for the G26 reveal, as one year ago the reveal was indeed aimed to happen in 2021 Geneva Motor Show.

TBH I can't even remember now how I made that conclusion. So I wouldn't trust myself with that.

I think this fresh footage finally confirms that the hatchback/big tailgate of 4 GC will remain also in G26 generation for the whole model range (meaning also M440i etc., not only i4). This is great news, in my opinion the big tailgate in addition to styling has been one of the biggest benefits of 4 GC compared to 3 Sedan. I believe many F36 customers would turn their heads to G20, if G26 would have been without the big tailgate. BMW is really smart that they understood to retain it

Sadly the photographer didn't take any video, when the tailgate was opened or closed, nor any photos from the back with the tailgate open. But anyway good stuff.

So BMWBLOG was wrong (fortunately) and ynguldyn was right already three years ago

I don't see the point here, because apparently both the i4 and many of the ICE models will be revealed at the same time around March this year, so why they want to make the ICE models to look "older" inside until two years, when i4 will get the fancy displays from SOP (August/September/November, still open)? This is sad. It was earlier understood that i4 will be almost identical inside with G26 ICE models, but that seems not to be the case.

I understand, if BMW wants those displays with iDrive 8 first into i4 and iX (to generate hype around those models), and not into ICE models, but why they just can't introduce those for G26 ICE already 03/2022 - or at the latest 07/22 MY change with G20. Waiting of two years is way too long.

Yes. This is the only possible interpretation of the information available to me.
