++ If pipe works on X5d. Someone was just saying X5d was a no go but it also seems one of the 2 ++ guys had received word from Ecotune that the X5d was a go.

I also sent email into Redline Speed Worx. I need to talk to iaknown about the EGR cooler "corking" kit now.

What rediness test need to be "complete" to pass the test over there? Are they allowed to be unavailable?

In California it used to be you could have two monitors not ready. However, I've heard that as usual the smog laws have been subjected to underground regulation and now you can't have any not ready.

I'm kind of surprised ecotune hasn't figured this out. On the gm pcm its as easy as buying the HPTuners software and setting the codes related to no error reported.

Is there a computer interface we can buy to alter the parameters of the ECU ourselves?

It reports not ready, tdiwyse checked it out already. If the codes are just turned off that is what will happen, the monitor must see that code is reporting no error but if the code is deleted entirely the monitor will just be permanently in the not ready state.

An easier way to go back to stock software would be very nice also to allow proper testing of OBD readiness.

Some initial mpg data is in and it looks good.

Filled up before and after from same pump from same station 1 day apart. Mileage GPS corrected (new DW tires slightly larger diameter than OEM). 2 round trips (to track meet and back Friday ~70F, then family and back Saturday with morning trip ~48F, return trip 75F and used AC). Mostly interstate at ~70mph, but some county roads and small towns with some stop signs/lights. Very windy both days, with 90% of the mileage being strong 20+mph crosswinds (so non optimum wind drag conditions).

239.8 miles, 5.8 gallons-> 41.34 mpg's. DDE predicted 43.5 (mine reads higher than hand calculated).

Wow to think we can be in the same realm of 99.5-05 Golfs is crazy! It that's the case, after a few more of your fill-up to cone in accuracy I'm in!

Ok QUESTION is will it work with the X5d, either Stan or RS come with a correct answer!!. I hv a few friends with X5d and want to know. Blind leading blind.

TDi those number seem low, my friend with DPF on and larger IC and his own piggyback is getting 45-47 hwy mpgs in Florida. I suspected higher number than what you're reporting. I beleive it will get higher once computer adjust to the knew curves that happened to me when i installed the WAGNER IC I clocked 312 whp vice 306 and then a year later same dyno machine clocked 318 whp

There's a lot of variables in reporting mpg's (and dyno's). Temps, fuel, wheels, tires (and pressure), wind, road surface, traffic, speed, etc, as well as how accurate your odometer and fuel dispenser are. Also, cold and wind really pull down mpg's. I expect a lot of people don't follow rigorous enough protocol and procedures to really give an accurate reporting and are very susceptible to placebo.

Also, at cruising conditions the wagner IC wouldn't help you from a thermodynamic point of view. The engine isn't under enough load to be using hardly any boost (measured data verified), and the OEM intercooler already cools the temps down to ~ambient in this condition (also verified by measured data). Plus the wagner IC weighs more so you'd be loosing some efficiency due to extra weight...

When you say blind leading the blind who are you referring to?
I have contacted ecotuneuk about this question and this is the email I recieved:

Quote:
Dear Paul,

Thanks for your enquiry and sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

The US spec DPF removal downpipe has been provided to our first 4 customers for testing.

This includes a solution for your X5.

I appreciate your patience and in the coming weeks this kit will be available from us directly or through our US agent Redline Speed Worx, NJ.

I have attached an image for you to have a look at.

If you require any technical support state side JR at Redline Speed Worx, NJ is your man!

Best wishes,

Campbell Booth
Operations Manager

So which is it? I'm getting contradictory statements here.

If its not available, then I don't see a point to keeping me on the list. Perhaps xboxgod wants the spot and I'd gladly give it to him.

looks like a back office disconnect, Stan knows and reports one thing, members of the sales team/office dont have the information Stan has but think they have the correct answer anyway.

Maybe the solution that was included there was a pipe they sent to an X5d owner for test fitting and verification? If you want to be hard on someone you should at least have solid evidence. The email doesnt say that the 335d pipe fits the x5d. Then again, im not from the UK so maybe in UKese that was intended to mean the pipe is the same
