Because the 80gig is much more feature filled. Also the 40gig isn't backwards compatible with the PS2. This may not matter to some but it matters to a lot of 'core gamers.

I love my 60 gig and think it's the best bang for the buck. Full featured Blu-ray, memory card slots/USB ports, decent hard drive. The PS3 just keeps getting better. As a home theater system it's almost near perfect. As a gaming machine, unfortunately it's suffering.

Agree 100%. I purchase all my must have games on the xbox. Typically if they have online support I'll just buy the xbox version. XBOX Live can NOT be touched. Even used it over the weekend to rent some movies!
