In light of all the new cars/new car shopping going on...

Does anyone else here feel very humbled sometimes by their cars? I've loved cars for as long as I can remember. I can remember reading a 1997/8/9 Road and Track describing the acceleration of an XJR equivalent to being hit by a freight train. I can likewise remember their first "re-format" in Jan 2002 (IIRC) with a red E46 M3 on the cover.

I guess the point is a year and a half ago I was driving a Hyundai Accent hatchback. Before then I had Daewoo. Granted we aren't driving exotics or anything, but while driving I very often reflect on how good what I'm driving is compared to what I was.

Yes, I do. And despite that as I said earlier, I wish I could be happy with a Camry or a Buick.

I wish I could to but can't. I log a decent amount of mileage on company trucks and it's just hell driving those...

of course man. i remember my first car - a 91 accord with 125 hp. a dog.

i was on the verge of tears because i wanted an M3 (e36) so badly it hurt and i thought that car was both fast as a banshee and unattainable by me in 1,000,000 years. My 135 would smoke that car now.

even though we ALL talk shit like Imma get a porsche or lotus or ferrari, i think we all know how lucky we are thus far in respect to that game.

(hint:it's the parent company of Lotus)

I've had Accord and Camry and even with a V6 it doesn't seem to satisfy.I've always wanna own a Bimmer for a while so this has been quite fun.

I can say Im truly lucky, My first car wa a 1981 Olds Omega with a hole in the floorboard covered by a Century 21 sign. Since then Ive owned 15 Mustangs with my newest one being a 2011 5.0 and my beater is a 2011 Fusion. Recently Ive been looking at the 3 Series BMW's and leaning towards an M3. In my line of work I drive alot of the vehicles I detail and get a chance to see what I like and dont like. Perk of the job. Sometimes I feel like the luckiest SOB alive. Have a great weekend guys.

That would be quite the change for you, especially in light of the fact that the stang recently took down the M3 in that track test, didn't it?

BTW, one piece of french toast and some sausage left....and I don't think I'm running for HOA again. Time to just be a regular person again....spend more time driving.

It did well against the M3 but didnt beat it. They are matched up well on paper. The only adavantage the 5.0 has is torque. The M3 wins on interior quality as Ive driven one and really like it. I can say for around $1,000 Im running 11's in the quarter mile with the new 5.0 and I dont think any mod for the M3 is cheap although I havent really researched that yet. If you arent going to run for HOA president then who will? I thought about running for a position but I too enjoy my free time.
