Installed a new crankshaft position sensor in my '07 e91 328xi. Did it without removing the intake manifold. Skinny arms and rubber wrists helped, but it still took a while.

New CPS seems to have solved erratic idle, stalling, and transmission warning. Fingers crossed.

Edit: bought an $11.00 ebay CPS, time will tell how it holds up.

Had a cylinder 4 misfire on my 09 328i, replaced all the coils with Delphi and also replaced the OEM Bosch plugs with NGK laser platinums. Car runs much better, no more misfire and the transmission seems to shift noticeably smoother without hesitation so far.

Bought some driving gloves from the dealer. Such a huge difference. A must for anyone running an alcantara steering wheel. I was going to buy another wheel due to the lack of grip from just using my bare hands.

Keep in mind I use Sonax alcantara cleaner and a Sonax brush religiously to keep the alcantara in good condition but it seems like the material is made to work with gloves. Immense improvement in steering wheel grip and it makes the car a joy to drive again.

I've always made fun of people who wear driving gloves. UNTIL I was lucky enough to drive a Lamborghini LP560s around a track and I was given proper driving gloves. It made a world of a difference. I dont really see the point for day to day driving but to each their own.

I thought it was stupid at first as well. The odd shape of the m performance V2 steering wheel makes it extremely irritating when taking even simple turns.

Since I have dry hands, I would lose grip on the alcantara portion constantly due to the shape of the wheel.

It feels like I am now able to use the steering wheel as it was designed as opposed to using it in likely the wrong manner simply to get a better grip on the wheel but holding it improperly.

Good thing my steering wheel sits pretty low so people don't see me wearing them lol

Replace the center console trim that was covered with 3m 1080 Dead Matte Black with one covered with black leather.

Also got in samples of 3m 1080 reds to work on the S/S button trim.

And cleaning up my "BMW" backup USB drives and getting all the duplicate files deleted and everything consolidated on one drive.

Took a new 3rd party 3-stage Intake manifold small DISA that had a poor plug socket (connecting prongs were twice as thick as stock) and took it apart to use new parts in OEM housing. Plug could still connect, but seal was showing and p

FOR REFERENCE: aftermarket DISA housings have slight variances: motor mounts on OEM needed to be bored slightly more to allow the motor to fit. Alignment of guide points which mate up to pieces that connect are slightly different, so pieces have to follow the DISA case they were in. There was surprisingly no grease in the new unit — all parts were dry. Added some lithium grease for good measure. Then dropped some acid...well the type that melds plastic together, and was done.

Then got the seller to give me a discount t since I was rebuilding something that should have been right from the start.

Btw, Also FYI, if you need a new large DISA, I found a good vendor on eBay that actually uses a metal rod in the flap already. So no concern about future problems. The motor they use is very reactive and strong; so I have high hopes. You can see the metal rod at the top via their photos on the auction. I have NOT found a vendor that I like for the small DISA yet.

Sounds interesting. Do you have a picture that shows what you're talking about?
Sure. If you can see on the pic (aftermarket) the area where the actual motor sits on, you see the half circle mounting points are quite deep. Stock BMW ones (or at least the generation that got put in most of the cars initially) were shallow like the yellow lines I put in.

There is a female piece that holds the worm spindle on the opposite end that mates with a male piece on the opposite side of the shell (sorry pic has elements dumped on that side covering the male plastic piece) which is different at least from the version on the 2006 330i. The gear that interacts with the gear to the flap is also placed slightly differently so you have to pair the shells together regardless of the internal/flap swap.

Also note the notch on the base of the motor. This sits on an exact mating match on both sides of the shell so the motor obviously stays in place rather than spinning itself. Well...that notch is thinner on the new motors and DISA shells, so that required modification.

The main reason I had to stick with the stock shell and swap the motor is that the pins in pic3 were too fat. The plug had a hard time getting on there are wouldn't push fully into place. While it could send a signal and work, it didn't allow the rubber seal or the lock to engage so it would kinda be a crapshoot with a difficult piece to get to. That and the flap on the new one had a LOT of resistance as it spun (even after showering it with lithium grease). So I figured since the original flap spun freely and looked good, I went with that. I'd rather press my luck that the old one somehow wears down peacefully than a new one creating so much torque friction that it might destroy the flap spindle and have it grenade the engine.

Anyway, other solution would be getting the tiniest file and trying to take two hours grinding the pins down. Or disassembling the pin set, but those were actually soldered well to the breadboard which itself was soldiered and plastic stud mounted (it melted into place like our door pulls). So it was the lesser of two evils.
