Tks.
You'll definitely know if you get misfires. The car will run like crap when you try to hammer on it and then it will start shutting down cylinders and then it will run even worse.

As far as the other stuff goes, you'll need to datalog. Give this a read http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=696472

I'm loving the Cobb stage 1 aggressive. Car runs great, but hotter than before with temps going a bit passed the middle 250 where it'd never go with just ppk.

Will a FMIC and stage 1+ help with these oil temps or does that have nothing to do with it? Car has stock oil cooler.

Will an intake help? I have a drop in kn filter currently, no other mods. Looking at either injen or bms; although the dinan intake looks the best.

Butt dyno from 1 to 1+: significant or just more consistent?

Neither of those will drop your oil temps. You need either a bigger oil cooler core to keep temps at 240* full time with the stock t-stat, or get BMS's thermostat delete with your stock/aftermarket core to have oil flowing through it full time.

1 to 1+ is a big difference and you will feel it. 1+ is more powerful than Stage 2.

A vented hood should help out a few degrees as far as engine temps

Big difference with the FMIC. Cooler temps.

A couple days ago I switched to stg 1 aggressive LT from stg 0 and was getting limp mode/reduced power with p30ff codes every time I did a 3rd gear pull to redline. I did it probably 6 times in a row. Yesterday, I had the car smoke tested at a local shop and it came back negative.

I found some other posts mentioning the boost solenoids, etc. I picked them up yesterday and replaced them this morning along with some vacuum lines. I'm happy to report that I just did some pulls on stg 1 sport LT, and no limp, no codes!

It's worth noting that my '07 had the original boost solenoids, and I believe the part has been updated twice since then.

Here's a quick log I just did running stg 1 sport LT on 93 octane. It's a little over 80 degrees outside. I'm very new to logging, so I hope this is enough good data...

Got a problem after the 30.2 DME update at the dealership. Now when I connect the AP to the computer this window pops up and what ever I click itŽs "Not responding". IŽve reinstalled the AP Manager but same problem

I donŽt think I can update the AP, I canŽt even start the AP Manager when itŽs connected? IŽll send the e-mail...

Same thing happened to me. I ended up uninstalling the tune from the car, then uninstalling the AP Manager, reinstalling the AP Manager, and connecting the AP to the computer...only then was I able to update the firmware on the AP and get everything sorted out.

A cooler intake charge temp will mean lower oil temps. By how much, we do not know.

No, it won't. Completely seperate from each other. The only thing that "may" effect it would be cooler/denser air entering the combustion chambers causing more efficient ignition (no timing pulls)

Well, my anecdotal experiences are not terribly scientific but, they suggest otherwise.

I've seen a reduction in measured oil temp with ethanol injection. However, the changes made to the engines running condition was met meant to affect oil temperature, as much as it was to increase power. So, I'm not sure what else is going on. I cannot speak to other engine parameters on that particular engine. I can only say that the intake charge was cooler.

Well injecting into your cool side charge piping is a whole different ball game. I thought you were talking about cooling from the FMIC.

Well, in the case of the race car engine, that car wasn't intercooled. The only reason we added the ethanol injection was because the intake charge was too hot. Piston ringlands were cracking left and right.

So, anyway, I'm assuming that an intercooler would have a similar effect, since the intake charge would have a lower bulk temperature. Of course, there are lots of other things going on here so, I can't really say that a lower intake charge temp, as a result of adding a larger intercooler, would result in a lower oil temperature.

In any case, a larger intercooler is a good idea. The stock one heat soaks at like 90+ degrees, with the stock software. Grrrrrr

My Cobb will be here tomorrow! I have vrsf dps and 7" fmic on order, Vanguard V2 and afe dci already installed. What stage/map should I choose on the install? Also I bought my AP used, would I have to do anything before flashing(download certain maps, etc)? Thank you! I am new to this, very excited

I just switched from 1+Sport to the S1+A map on mine and love it!

Here is my experience, mine ran about 240* on the money all the time once warmed up when fully stock. I put in the FMIC before I tuned it with the Cobb, but got about a 10* drop in temps after the flash and FMIC. So the car ran about 230* unless you beat on it hard then it gets up to maybe 245*.

Maybe since I have like 100* IAT right now the FMIC helps out with the oil temps?

If I add in about 3 Gal of E85 to a full tank of 91 it drops the temps even more. So with the FMIC and E25 mix it runs less than 230* fully warmed up, and you have to beat on it long and hard to get it to rise above that

Has anyone else noticed oil temp drops from running an E85 mix?

If you have 93 Octane or better go straight to Stage 2+ Aggressive once you have it all in

I dont like the Linear throttle maps myself, but im still on Stage 1+. I'd suggest try Stock throttle map for a few days, then switch to linear throttle map and then see which one you like best. Have fun!

Also you should download AP Manager on your computer and make sure to update all the maps on your AP to make sure it has the V4.01 & V4.02 maps on it.

I'm not sure if anyone will see this but I have to give Cobb a GREAT recommendation.
My Cobb AP had an issue locking up.
I posted in here on a thread how it locked, someone from Cobb saw my post and shocked me by taking the time to actually contact me and have my Cobb AP sent in to be repaired!
I have never seen a company do such a thing based off a post in a forum.
So needless to say, I sent it in and they fixed it free and not only that, they contacted me to make sure where to ship it.
Are you kidding me?
Client for life..........
Seriously,
Thank you Cobb and all the people that work there for such great service and a great product!
