Ah yes. Well, it sounds virtually identical to the dual tip system anyway. Those videos are still a very good indication of the quads.

Id still like to hear what the quads sound like. Ya think you could get a sound clip up soon? If possible, with and without catless downpipes. Thanks

X-pipe and rasp

Messrs. Autobahn Exotics: is it your understanding that inline 6 cylinder motors are fitted with X-pipes to avoid exhaust rasp? The introductory text in your video seems to confirm that this is your technical theory.

If it is so, may I suggest that you purchase, and read thoroughly, the book Flow and Combustion in Automotive Engines by C. Arcoumanis, Take Kamimoto, and Arcoumanis, or even better Further studies of noise characteristics of internal combustion engine exhaust systems (SAE) by S. W Coates. Both of these books, but there are many others, may shed some light on a subject that seems to escape you.

I think you may be mistaken. Firstly, we did not edit that video, so I cannot take credit for the words that are used in the title frames. You'll notice the youtube account it is hosted from isn't ours. Secondly, the reason for not using an X pipe had nothing to do with rasp at all.

I'm not sure what you're intentions are in this thread, but clearly based on this post of yours they don't mean well, so if its all the same to you, I'd appreciate your cooperation in simply not posting in here if you intend to start an argument or flame war.

The previous pages of this thread contain copious amounts of information on the system and reasons for why it is built the way it is. The key part of the exhaust system, as it is with any well built system, is the mufflers which are obviously a major contributing factor to the sound it produces, including rasp. There's a reason why ours are hand built individually.

Thanks!

Nick

If I am mistaken, disregard my post. It seemed like you posted and/or endorsed a video that claims 'if you know how to build and exhaust, you do not need an x-pipe to avoid the rasp'. Others seem to have read it the same way I did. Since we make exhausts, and many have X-pipes, none of which are there to reduce rasp, I wanted to get your technical understanding before this thread runs off unchecked and people start claiming that X-pipes are devices built by incompetents. That's all.

I am the original poster, i made the videos, and if you look at the youtube account it isn't autobahn exotics... so yes, you were mistaken.

I am sorry, but maybe I am not understanding. Here is what I read on the post:

There is a company name, so I have to assume it's their production. It then states that, if you build an exhaust properly you don't need an X-pipe to avoid rasp. This statement happens to be factually incorrect, and inflammatory, as it clearly implies that, if you use an X-pipe, you do not know how to build a proper exhaust. I beg to differ, offered reference material to prove my point, and posted a request for clarification. All of this premised by a big IF.

Call me all the names you want, but also take the time to explain to me where I was out of line in taking offense at the content of this video.

if a video on youtube offends you so much, then you have other issues..............

So if you haven't figured it out yet, AE didn't make the video. i threw it together. do you feel better?

^^ Exactly...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in my first reply I said we did not write the text in the video... JPSIMON did. Not quite sure why you have this personal vendetta going on... but its clearly unwarranted. I dont criticize your products, or posts, or anything from other companies. Its simply bad etiquette, IMO. I'd appreciate it if you did the same.

You'll also notice on our website, under the exhausts description.. it does not say what it says in that video. Take it for what its worth.. the video was a sound clip, and wasnt meant to have informational content anywhere, but it was put in anyway by someone other than us. I'm not sure why you feel "offended" by text in a video that has nothing to do with you either... You need to relax.

all these posts lead me to a point

who on here even owns anything from rdsport?

hopefully no one when theyre rep. is some psycho that comes in other vendors forums and argues with people over x pipes

im sure there are plenty of exhausts that have x pipes and are GREAT, but rdsport, yours probably isnt one of them if you have to attack others

shouldnt they ban this guy? pay for vendor status or something, maybe someone will respect you if your name shows green

Nick,

I did not criticize your product, as I don't know anything about it. This is a Forum, and is open to public discussion. If a video with my logo and my name appeared on any of these forums claiming that (just an example) if you know how to build a proper stroker motor you don't need to use a long-stroke crankshaft, I may get away with it for a while, but the day Steve Dinan were to read this statement, he surely would have something to say about it.

At that point, if I, myself, was also a poster on the same forum, I think I would have a very hard time convincing him that it wasn't me who posted, but one of my fans, and that he should go and look at the IP address of the server.... blah, blah, blah.

The point is that many people use these forums to gather information about what mods to put on their cars, and it is a duty of all members to try and pass the most accurate information possible. If you post something in a public arena, you must be prepared to argue your theory, without calling people names and without trying to round up the troops to start a public trial followed by an execution.

Again, never once did I slam your product, nor did I claim that mine is better than yours. The negative comment were on the post that happened to be by someone displaying your logo, so don't fault me for not being able to make the distinction.

In any case, I wish you luck with your endeavor and I hope you do well with your products.
