Just stupid marketing for a small segment if you ask me. Those guys with 13+ year old cars most likely aren't thinking too much about this stuff; they're mostly dealing with their rapidly growing rust spots.

Cuz OBD-I cars are simpler, so get that done first. Then work on the added complexity of OBD-II. Makes sense to me.

I would disagree. Many are used as track only vehicles which are more hard core than the majority here.

I know, I was j/k. But, who really cares about those Chevy Nova's nowadays, anyhow...we only care about tuning the 335i, right?

I dunno, an early '95 E36 M3 has great potential and would make for a great weekend track car.

yeah but seriously you just need a chip burner and a flash chip $80 max and you can tune a 95 m3 all day long. its friggen simple ecu (motronic 3).

tuning cars with socketed chips lol. easy with a romulator ($150~'ish) just plug it in and have co-pilot change the rom while driving or on load dyno.

breaking into the obd-2 port flash a little more complex.

so where's the software ?

i've got winols and all modules; and rom emulators for AM29F800 and smaller (16-bit).

still waiting..

Another deadline past..... It would be nice to get an update on availability. Seems to be VERY quiet on the news front. Maybe Jim likes to keep things to himself, which is fine, or maybe he hit some problems.

If anybody knows anything please post as I would love to know..

I don't care if he misses another 5 deadlines as long as the product delivers in the end. I'm just hoping that the shark injector will debut at the same time as the shark edit.

There is a SharkEdit social group I check more than the threads and update.

Jim is keeping off the boards while he gets things going.

He may have been a bit overzealous on his release dates, but he didnt factor in the whole "we're gonna hack you" security mess. As soon as that post was made, Jim shifted directions for a while.

I stopped asking him for updates, because pretty much it will be done when it is done.

Here is what I do know:

1.) Jim is coding his life away right now. Every time I do talk to him, he is coding. When I go to his house I chat with him... while he is coding.

2.) The SharkEdit forum HOPEFULLY will be up real soon. We have a dual quadcore xeon 1u setup right now (just got the parts tonight, or at least Jim was supposed to go pick them up). I am going over there tomorrow night and we are going to try to get it all assembled and booting. From there, its just a matter of getting the OS on there and getting everything secured. Then off to the colocation facility to get it on the net. Once the forum is setup, I will post the link here.

3.) This is NOTHING MORE THAN HERESAY. At one point, Jim mentioned to me a roadtrip me and him are going to take with the M3 and the 335... to the dyno. Does this mean a 335 tune? Right now, no. I will not SAY yes. I will just say he does want to put it on the dyno for various reasons.

Hopefully this is enough for now.

He is working on finishing the software and getting it released first. After that, he can do MSD81 or whatever else he plans on doing.
