I went to an open test day at Buttonwillow on Friday. The ambient temp was in the high 50s to low 60s. It was a trouble free day except for one limp/CEL instance. During my 3rd "session" (I put quote because there was no session, it was an open track all day), the car went into limp mode and I had a half CEL. Initially, I thought it was the oil temp issue but it was only at 270°F. So that shouldn't be the problem. Then I saw that my fuel gage was completely empty, and the range was displaying "---". Ahh....out of gas!!! I limped back to the pit, fueled it up at the pump at the track. CEL went away, and I got back on the track on more time.
Anyway, with the cool ambient temp, stock oil cooler, stock coolant mix, my oil temp was consistently at 270°C. Sorry, forgot to set the display to read the coolant temp. And I was able to run more laps continuously.

Hey guys, sorry if this is a bit OT but i'm new to tracking (first time last Sat and loved it). But I saw a few posts about running a 255 square setup, any updates or feedback on rubbing on stock e92?
I'm in a 335is so it's got a "sport tuned suspension" of which I am still not exactly sure what it means, I assume perhaps a stiffer/high spring rate but same dual gas struts/shocks as 335i? Anyway I want to run 255/40ZR17 RS-3's on a 9 or 9.5 in wheel. I don't want to do any body modifications and may consider coilovers or springs in the future but for now will run stock ride height. Currently have 19" 313M's, 9J 255 in rear so I know those will clear but I'm concerned about rubbing in the front since stock are 19" 8J 225. Any input appreciated! And if this is OT I apologize, I'll remove it. Thanks |

BTW, you should have no problem with new wheels and camber plates. I and many others run the same setup you want to. |

You'll be fine on the street with a tune and intake, but on a roadtrack you're doomed...

For rotors, I definitely want Racing Brakes 2 piece floating. Question is, are the rears mandatory? Plan is to keep rear stocks with Cool Carbon pads and run track pads on the front along with RBs.

because its not a joke. tested at the Ring. Take it as you want, just trying to help you guys out with oil temps...
It forces oil to always go through the oil cooler before going back into the engine. With this fitted the car ,stage 3 , never went into limp mode which was the case before.

My thoughts exactly. How can this possibly work? The Stett setup is a much larger core and a different thermostat and is just enough to get the job done. There is no way this can work with a stock core only.

Sounds like a regular thermostat, its not going to help by itself.
By the way, the STETT thermostat is $180, had to put down a deposit to replace my 1st defective tstat with the 2nd...defective tstat. |

Solution: STETT with NO thermostat. Isn't that the same as buying this thing? Why not just remove the thermostat??? I have no thermostat at all- so oil is always running through the OC. I live in Dallas so it is rarely cold. Even this winter, I have had no issues. I just let the car warm up a bit in the garage before setting out.
