So today it was my turn to order lunch and collect $ from everyone. One of the guys comes into my office and puts down a $20. I say wait, what change do I owe you? I look at the email and see his lunch was $18.75 so I owe him $1.25 change. Immediately I start to sing $1.25er, $1.25er. Two finger lickin good pieces of chicken, roll and potatoes....

Can it possibly be that at one time in my life the above only cost $1.25???? Am I that old or am I so old I got the amount wrong?

Wifey and I went to a local bar near campus the other day for lunch. This place used to have cheap burgers and fries. You could buy a side basket of fries that was plenty for two people. Two burgers and a basket of fries used to run about $12 there. We hadn't been in a long time, so we decided to go back. They no longer sell the side basket of fries. You have to order fries as a $3 extra when you order your burger. We were pretty surprised at how few fries you got for your $3. And the burgers got pricey. Two McD's sized burgers and the small fries sides cost $28 before a tip. Yikes. We won't be eating there any more.

I kept thinking about "Burger, fries, and a Coke and change back from your dollar." Those days are long gone, I guess.

I'm reminded of going to Harrington's Bar & Grill near my office in downtown San Francisco for its Friday lunch special: a burger with fries and two drinks for $3.95. The burger was average, as were the fries, but no one ever went to an Irish bar for the food.

The drinks could be anything they served; however, if you ordered martinis, they brought a medium shaker filled with ice-cold martini. It was, at the very least, a quadruple of their regular martini, a drink in which vermouth was present only if you worked really hard at imagining its being there. Those were the days. Now, I need a nap after a couple of drinks, never mind four.

Yeah, $7.12 to get a matcha tea latte with a shot. I think I’m going to have to start adding $50 to the CBTL app card soon

....when you grew up with all of these songs. Extra credit for knowing the singer or group that performed each without looking it up. Extra extra credit if you've seen the artists who made these songs famous live in concert.

I helped a neighbor son change his winter tires to summers today (This young fellow is in his early 20s and drives an older automatic Toyota) and he was looking at my cars in the garage and he asked me.
Are these manual cars? I said yes, 6 speed manual, and what came next is something no one ever asked me before.
What are all the pedal for? How come they have 4 pedals?
I had to do something that I have never done in my life before. I had to explain to him that one is the accelerator, one is the brake, one is the clutch and the fourth pedal is just a dead pedal (foot rest). Now I feel a lot older than I am

Lets see, we have...

James Taylor, America, Fats Domino, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney (Beatles), Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Don Mclean, Ringo Starr (Beatles), Smokey Robinson, Neil Young, Otis Redding, Bill Haley, Johnny Nash, 3-Dog Night, Mary Hopkin, Tommy James.

Missed one or two. Did not look them up.

You did really well. I'd swap out Fats Domino with Wilbert Harrison since he did it first and made the song a hit, but your answer is not wrong. How many did you see live in concert?

Of the ones I mentioned, I've seen one; Neil Young. Been to many concerts, though. Here's a post of mine listing who I've seen from cmyx6go's concert thread.

My wife sent me a link to a job opening down south that I could really enjoy in my retirement. A driving school was looking for part-time instructors to teach teens how to drive manual transmissions. With all of the people that I have successfully taught over the years for free, I can't believe that I could get a $50/hour pay check for doing it.....

It`s true. I know I learn something new almost every week or month from one of my sons, especially when it comes to computers and cell phones.

After we were done he asked me how much I owe you? I told him I would send him the bill at the end of the month, he laughed and said If you ever need any help don`t hesitate to ask. Great kid/young adult that always stops when he sees me outside to say hi or just a few words, which is a very rare thing now a days from young people.

Lol, if you knew that, you would`ve been a millionaire by now

I was really surprised when he asked what the 4 pedals were for. But he is a really nice young man that I didn`t mind explaining it to him.

Did anyone explain why young people need to learn to drive standard transmission cars? Valet training? Dealership car movers?

Does anyone recall when tacos were 19˘ at Taco Bell (or anywhere else)?

I had to get some food into me after working a swing shift one night. The Bell was the only place open in that part of San Jose. I got my $$$ worth from that taco, too!

Having kids that appreciate what you've done for them is a very good thing. When they are able and willing to give a little back in whatever form that takes is priceless. You should be proud.
