I figured. Can't blame a guy for hoping though.

Hopefully, these so-called "hackers" can keep their mouths shut and stop "cut-and-paste" posts.

You know who you are, maybe a shot of will curb the verbal/written diarrhea.

Hopefully this is enough for now.
Aw man, that's a tease! I sure understand Jim's desire to stay away from the vultures on here (hey, myself included sometimes), but he could save a LOT of sales from people flocking to Dinan now because they want a safe, easy tune (and "workaround" for 29.2 bull#@$ for those of us whose cars now suck). Hell, if I knew it was in the pipeline, I'd hold off.

Now, two other questions you may be able to help with:

- When using a Shark Edit/Injector tune, is the car able to be updated with BMW's regular progman updates, which fix issues for a million things besides engine/performance aspects? I'm concerned since I would think that removing your tune back onto the injector, then going to the dealer and getting an update, then finally loading the tune back onto the car with the injector would essentially wipe what you just got as far as an update, and you'd be back to all old code. On the other hand, maybe the Shark only "overwrites" certain lines and would not impact/wipe out all of the other updated modules from the dealer's latest progman updates.

- Could Shark Edit/Injector potentially be used SIMPLY TO CURE 29.2 by having someone "mirror" exactly 27.4 and distribute this as a dirt cheap "tune"? I bet a lot of people would actually love to have their cars back to the way they should be, but not necessarily interested in the "dangers" or wear and tear of any sort of performance bump above stock.

This thread is 98% bumps. Oops I bumped it again.....

It will be cool to see what develops and impact this has on the n54 tuning space when/if the product arrives on the scene.

Yup, its a myth... just like the man named Jim Conforti. He has never done a thing for BMWs.

Like I have said on other forums, you are more than welcome to go purchase the competitions product. I doubt Jim will be mad.

Someone on our local forum asked about SharkEdit, so Jim took some time out of coding to post this...

I have edited it a bit to remove non-essential stuff...

SharkEdit WOULD have been done over 2 months ago.

But some ******** on certain boards had to threaten to "hack" or "open
source" my work.

Yet I continually take the heat and hear "Is it done YET?"

I had figured that the mind-bending entry price of $299 would have kept
the world honest - nope - more people who thought they were going to "hack"
the program.

Now - the problem is that because this program will be used to distribute the
intellectual property of others as well as my IP. If it is seen as "hackable" then
it becomes less of a positive for the true target market - professionals.

So the entire architecture was ripped back to zero and redone with so much
encryption, the NSA would be proud of me. Every plugin now authenticates
via all sorts of complicated encryption and optionally also has a user-specific
license too. Due to careful coding it will only run 5 or so % slower than the
original design. It is literally orders of magnitude more secure now.

Thus an approximately 80 day release delay.

Jim

That person is a member here and still full of hot air. Glad to see they've kept their mouth shut.
