https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1108386 You can get the cable and usb connector for like $40 usd off ebay. I can't imagine it's much different cost in EU.

I did get my 1b but when i'm trying to enter the license it is invalid. i opened the 1b and seems odd. i've looked through other ones and did not appear 1234567 as VIN.
Any solution? |

Hi all, and many thanks to Portalseo for the guide, I have downloaded the files and copied the copie_scr.sh file to a newly formatted fat32 usb drive and followed the instructions to the letter. however its not populating with the required hex files. I have tried another 4GB drive but same again, also tried rufus application to format the drive, but still no joy.
I just wanted to check if the version of CIC I have is compatible, car is a 2009 LCI 320d RHD according to an online VIN decoder, build date is 2009-06-02 and I have S609 Navigation System Professional (wide screen). Is there a different method to get the required data in order to produce a FSC code? The current version of maps is ECE 401143.2.10 - Europe WEST Premium 2015-2. I have downloaded the 2022 Premium map as per link supplied by Penfold2015, Thanks for that! |

Maps not loading in car...
Hi all,
I've followed all the steps for this post in my 2012 F30. It has the CIC not the NBT system. I've downloaded the map I need (Aus/NZ PREMIUM 2020 maps) and have put them onto the USB drive, and then plugged it into the glovebox. The current map loaded in the car is Road Map Japan PREMIUM 2016. The version number at the top says 08.00.2000. Quote:
I've unzipped, and put the config.nfm and pkgdb folder in the root of the USB as per all the instructions I've read. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or something else I can do to get the CIC to register that there is a map update available on the USB? TIA for any help. |

Hello, i have a 06-2012 F30 and want to update the maps. I can not pull the 1b.hex from the navi. I have only one USB port under the armrest, i have no USB in glovebox. Is it possible to pull the 1b from there? I formatted the USB to FAT32, and put the copie_scr on it, but it does not pull the 1b.

The glovebox USB port is required to use the script. You may not have a compatible CIC installed or another model, e.g. business instead. |

portalseo, critical info which should be added on the first page :
I found the explanation and solution to most problems in this thread regarding the Idrive not recognizing your USB. All Windows OSs versions are designed to not allow formatting a USB drive larger than 32GB (2.0 or 3.0 regardless) to FAT32 format (64 GB, 128 GB drives). Only exFAT will be proposed by Window which won't work with the idrive for an e9x . After doing some internet search i learned that FAT32 has no such limitation implied by Window OS, in fact 1 TB is possible in FAT32 ! To go around Window OS was easy after I downloaded a small free tool that does exactly that and I formatted my 3.0 USB 128 GB drive to FAT32. It takes 10 seconds. After having gone through the whole update process and seeing it failing to be recognized by Idrive in exFAT format (as predicted). It all went smoothly in FAT32 No problems at all. Takeaway points are : - You CAN use > 32 GB USB sticks. The problem was people being forced by Window OS to format to exFAT since Window does not let you select FAT32 for > 32 GB drives. But the free tool does. - Idrive has no problem at all reading USB 3.0 USB only the transfer speed will be halved (which is still same as USB 2.0) since idrive does not support 3.0 speeds. - You CAN use a larger capacity USB. i used a brand new 128 GB USB stick To conclude, it all depends on the size of your maps data. If the year is after 2018 then it will be > 28 GB ,and you're going to need a large USB drive and pay attention to this post. - Last but not least. Once your update is started, you can drive the car and don't have to finish the update on that day. You can turn off ignition and idrive will be happy to automatically resume the update where it left off on any day, you don't even have to take the USB stick out, which is pretty cool. Most importantly no need to waste your battery. The idrive will ask you again if you want to update the navg then it will resume where it left off. FAT32 formating free tool for USB sticks > 32 GB (64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB..) http://ridgecrop.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm |

I inherited a like-new BMW X3 xDrive30i from my dad, who passed away at 95 last May.
The nav system has maps dated 2018 (North America EVO 2018-1, NBTevo_U19384I), with the region set to NC/SC. I live in the NY region, but it looks to be very difficult to change the region via E-SYS or BimmerCode, so I'm leaving it as is. However, I'd love to update the maps to something newer. So, for that, it looks like I need the 1b file. I've practically torn the car apart, and it really seems like there's only one USB port -- in the front center console, near the cigarette-lighter power port. Nothing in the armrest storage box, glove compartment, or back seat climate controls. I didn't find anything under the dashboard, either. Unless I'm mistaken, then, it looks like the only way to get it is via E-SYS and the OBDII port, correct? If so: I've got an E-SYS OBDII-to-Ethernet cable (and an Ethernet-to-USB-C adapter, in case there's an app for Android; I don't have a laptop, and otherwise I'd have to string a USB cable about 40 feet from my PC to the car). Are there any good instructions for me (a BMW-coding newbie, but pro software developer) that I can use to get that precious 1b file and accomplish a map update? Thanks for any leads! |

If it's EVO ID4, it has an F0 File, and if EVO ID5/6 it has no Nav Enabler File at all, and FSC cannot be generated.

It's disheartening to find that after a year's worth of research, everything I thought I knew about upgrading the maps was wrong. So, it turns out that my system is ID6 (three tiles per page, not five). Which leaves me with the question: since I evidently can't generate an FSC on my own, can I update the maps on this system at all using E-SYS? If not, what options do I have? Thank you again! |
