Virginia Comes to Its Senses and Pulls Out of 'California Electric Vehicle Mandate'
June 5, 2024 Consumers and car dealers in Virginia are breathing a sigh of relief after Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced that the state would no longer be following California's lead in mandating the adoption of electric vehicles that very few people want. "Once again, Virginia is declaring independence -- this time from a misguided electric vehicle mandate imposed by unelected leaders nearly 3,000 miles away from the Commonwealth," Gov. Glenn Youngkin said in a statement from his office. "The idea that government should tell people what kind of car they can or can’t purchase is fundamentally wrong," he added. "Virginians deserve the freedom to choose which vehicles best fit the needs of their families and businesses. The law is clear, and I am proud to announce Virginians will no longer be forced to live under this out-of-touch policy." https://www.westernjournal.com/virgi...hicle-mandate/ If this is the common sense that occurs before an election we should have one every 30 days! |

Too late for pandering. The thick hypocrisy is realized and the curtain hasn't been just pulled open, it's been ripped of the rod. * Still anticipate some nutty AI malfunction-emergency-explosion on 11/5. Overflowing toilets won't cut it twice.

You guys write this bizarre hand wringing anxiety filled narrative. Get outside some. My car has COP (cabin overheat protection) and doesn't get over 100. Then I cool it to 72 before I get into it. I arrive where I go with a smile on my face and feeling happy about life and very very comfortable.

Anyone else test drive the Kia EV6 GT? I have one as a loaner right now, and it is very interesting! I've never seen one up close in person (it's more of a wagon than SUV). Interior is pretty nice, really nice sport seats, and wow does it pull especially when you press the GT button on the steering wheel! Very impressive especially from Kia.

Who in their right mind buys one of these?
Rivian Cost: Model Breakdown And Cost Of Ownership Explained The Rivian R1T range starts at $69,900 for the base dual-motor standard battery configuration. The R1S costs $74,900 in the same configuration. For both derivatives, you'll pay an extra $5,000 for the Performance and $8,000 for the Quad-Motor. The Standard+ battery costs $3,100, while the Large battery adds $9,100 to the total cost. The Max battery will have you increasing your budget by a whole $19,100, but this increases the range to around 410 miles. Rivian R1T And R1S Charging Costs Standard 105 kWh Battery Extended 135 kWh Battery Max 180 kWh Battery Low Rate States $12.60 $16.20 $21.60 High Rate States $44.10 $56.70 $75.60 DC Fast Charging $50.40 $64.80 $86.40 Geico's average insurance rate for the R1S is currently $2,371 per month, while Progressive Insurance's average rate sits as high as $2,874. Being EVs, the Rivian R1 range is subject to some catastrophic depreciation rates. If you want to curb depreciation as much as possible, experts suggest considering the R1T, as it currently decreases in value by 52.8 percent in five years. The R1S loses 76.7 percent over the same period. By EV standards, these are pretty good rates, but ICE SUVs and trucks hold their value far better. https://www.topspeed.com/rivian-cost-explained/ Last edited by Car-Addicted; 06-06-2024 at 08:02 PM.. Can you imagine if this was actually true lol? Come on, just google how much it costs, it's that figure for one year not one month. Hell, call your insurance company and ask.

If I had changed a published article I would get all kinds of crap for that. I assumed most folks on here could do simple math. I was wrong.
How much does Rivian insurance cost? Average insurance cost for the Rivian R1S SUV is $2,508 per year, while insurance on the R1T model averages $2,550 per year. Rates vary based on the trim level of vehicle you’re insuring, with the R1S starting at $2,420 per year for the $78,000 Adventure Dual-Motor Standard model, and going up to $2,596 per year for the $92,000 Adventure Quad-Motor Large model. For the R1T truck, car insurance cost starts at $2,394 per year for the $73,000 Adventure Dual-Motor Standard model, and going up to $2,682 per year for the $97,000 Adventure Quad-Motor Max model. https://insuraviz.com/vehicles/rivian/ Last edited by Car-Addicted; 06-06-2024 at 08:24 PM.. |
