I don't know about you but I'm not for the life of me paying that lol. For that amount I'd do many other things! Hopefully we hear back soon and see how it went. I'll try and look deeper into VAG and see what I find. If we don't find anything I'll do it the old school way myself and call it a day lol

Try going to TAPP auto, I think they are pretty good at what they do. Not sure if they are now into BMW, but they were into AUDI's when I last step foot in that cold city. Also I think there is DUSS bro's who do a great job on cars. This being Ottawa and all and Otto's being one of the most polite and pleasant dealers to visit. Not for the price mind you. Has anyone in the valley done any decent modifications to their cars? Anything at all... Anyone do DYI? |

Hey, just wanted to chime in, VAG bumped their prices to 450 for N54 a few weeks ago, I found a guy that is MTL north shore as well that has all the equipment in his garage and does mechanical jobs on the week ends. Of course there is no fancy waiting room, let a alone a loaner, but he charges 300 and he did a great job on my car. PM me if you want his number and info. ( he is in ste-therese, if you want to calculate distances, its closer then VAG from ottawa if you take the 50)

That's awesome! Thank you so much for the information! Does he have the bmw tool that does walnut shell blasting or he uses other tools ? Do you have pictures of the process with this guy? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure before I make a trip lol

He has the BMW adapter that slides inside the intake port (to plug the vacuum), I don't think you can do the job properly w/o it. The rest of the tools are generic, but thats normal, there is no other bmw tool. Im afraid i dont have pics of the process on my car but here is the thread he made on VW quebec for his car, you can see his cool garage and the stuff he does.

New Ottawa member, just picked up a 08 M3 Coupe.
Looking for tires for the stock 19's and came across this thread looking for somewhere to mount the tires. Everywhere is busy atm. I'll point out duss brothers wanted almost 250.00 to mount/balance/valve ... costco is 60bucks if I buy the tires from them. Somewhat compelling. Looking at Michelin Super Sports, or BF Goodrich G-force sport comp 2 (but in a slightly larger tire, but saves me 500.00) Something I'd like to share, I have the professional stereo, and it has an ipod input. I bought a bluetooth adapter, and can now stream music directly from my android phone. http://www.amazon.ca/August-MR100-Bl.../dp/B00AEQVUJU 12bucks.. mind you I have to reconnect when I get in the car (not repair, but reconnect) Very stoked about being able to stream tune in/ and Google music. I'll note that I had to set the input to aux, not ipod. So it's really just acting like a bluetooth audio to headphone unit, but taking power over usb. |

I would steer clear of Duss Bros. They used to be good when the old man was hell bent on providing service and workmanship at a good (not great or dirt cheap) pricing. My 3 recent visits have been nothing but utter disaster. I complained to them the first two times and the third time I just stopped going there, because at the prices they charge I can just as easily get work done at Otto's (who mind you have done nothing but provide excellent service).
YMMV, but end of my rant. I get my tires mounted at Kal Tire off Walkley and last time I paid $100ish taxes in. No complaints and I watched them work to get a jist of workmanship and equipment they have. Cant say if they are busy/booked or not but worth a shot. Quote:

License plate BHCR 073: Your black M3 looked real good this morning on Hunt Club road. I really liked what you had done with the kidney grills (///M colors). I was driving beside you for a bit in a black 2004 E46 sedan. Cheers!

Haven't been around much, but I just swapped out my car! Going from a 2007 323i to a brand new 2014 435i xdrive m-sport in white with a black interior. Otto's didn't want to play ball so I ended up going to BMW Toronto where I got a big enough discount to justify the trip. Delivery is on Wednesday!
Got a pretty damn reasonable offer to trade in my e90, but in the end I opted to keep it as well and just give it to my mother, haha. Needs a bit of minor work (valve cover gaskets, mainly) so after going through this thread and seeing the recos for Autovation in Sttitsville I set up an appointment. Will report back with a review!

Took delivery on the 435i about a week ago and its been a beast. Best decision ever!
Regarding Autovation - nothing but good things to say. Very fair in their labour rates/times and were a pleasure to deal with. They couldn't get a few parts in on time and had to keep the car over the long weekend, which they were very apologetic about. Bit of an upsell attempt, but I felt it was very well articulated and there was no pressure whatsoever. Actually all through the process the one thing that stood out for me was that the communication was great - everything was explained in full detail and all conversations were very cordial. I've since recommended these guys to a friend looking to get a PPI for a 5er he's buying and have no qualms putting this reco here.

Hi guys, so I'm moving out with the girlfriend soon and I won't be able to afford the 335 any longer
Here is the ad on autotrader, there you can see the pics and description! If you know of anyone in Ottawa or around who is looking for a PROPERLY maintained 335 this is the one. Thanks guys! The price is acutually 19 not 19.5. The ad hasn't updated yet. http://wwwb.autotrader.ca/a/BMW/3+Se...o/19_8046426_/ Cheers! |

I'll throw some pictures of the 4 up later tonight, sorry about the delay, I'm just bad at checking this thread for new posts!
Few things, one, I want to reiterate my Autovation review. There was a minor issue with the work they did, but I brought it back and to their attention and they owned up to it and fixed it ASAP for no charge. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but I find the truest measure of integrity is how its handled. There was not a thing they could have done better! These guys have fast become my non-warranty go-to. Secondly, I had some tints done at Autotredz in Stittsville. I had a go-to guy that would come to my hose and had done several of my cars over the years but he flaked out on me this time around. Overall I'm reasonably impressed with the work, so far so good, but I guess time will tell how it holds up. Went 15% all around, Formula One Pinnacle ceramic tints. Ran me $400. Thirdly, anyone know a good Paintless Dent Repair place? I was parked at the George Street parking garage last night and some asshole in a Neon parked beside me (despite there being like 17 vacant spots in a row next to me on both sides) and left a good two inch door ding on my passenger door. Its not very deep, but its the principle. It took all my self control not to smash that ****** window in. I'm not so much interested in the cheapest PDR, more so the best PDR. Right now I'm looking at Auto Dentist down on Bentley. Finally, hunginator, abour the 435i GC - DO IT! The 435 is a blast and still very unique on the streets of Ottawa; the GC will be even more so! If I can recommend one thing, shop Ottos and Elite, but do call up a dealer or two in TO before signing anything. In my case it was totally worth the trip and Ottos did not want to compete. Drop me a PM if you want details.

What was the issue Autovation caused?
I've been really looking at the 435's now. Which dealer did you end up purchasing from if you don't mind me asking? |

It wasn't an issue they caused, rather the valve cover gasket they installed for me didn't get seated properly. Tearing it apart and re-seating it is a decently big job and had it been a less honest person I would not have been surprised if they tried to weasel their way out of it.
I ended up picking up my car from BMW Toronto and had a solid experience all around. I'd be happy to refer you to the sales guy there if you like, he and his manager were very straightforward and willing to deal over the phone. Let me know by PM if you're interested - don't really want to post someone's contact info openly online.

Going to have my intake valves cleaned with the walnut blasting method this Thursday. Should make a huge difference in performance and smoothness. Can't wait!
