Yep, the car dynos at 330-335whp on a somewhat conservatively calibrated Dynojet. On most other dynojets, the car would put down perhaps 345-350whp. Still not a huge number. And no, I'm not sandbagging or claiming less than the car is putting down to the wheels. What you're seeing is the difference between a real, repeatable, dyno performance versus the typical single "glory run" dyno pull that is so common in this market. By "glory run", I mean a single one-time-only run on a fully cooled (sometimes even chilled) car with a bit extra boost and a bit more timing and a bit more octane. Not repeatible in the real world by any means. Pretty useless but sometimes big numbers get a lot of undeserved attention!

Hey J Gannon, I live in LA also and there is a few others who want to do the XEDE so we will all set up a date and Shiv if that is ok with you then we can do it here. I remember you saying if we can get even 3 people then you are willing to come down here, if not that's fine, we will try to get more. I have a busy schedule with work so I know I won't be able to come up there and I'm sure you have a busy schedule also but if you are here a lot then hopefully we can set up a date soon.

i'm really glad bmw put out a turbocharged car. alot of people seem surprised at all these power gains and great numbers. this is the way turbo's are. all you need is an ecu tune and a turbo back exhaust (although i'm not sure exactly how an exhaust is set up with 2 turbos...) and you can get some great, easy, cheap power gains. its like this for every turbo'd car. take for example the wrx.

problem is what would come next after ECU/TBE? up pipe? larger intercooler? bigger turbo's? mod's like that would compromise reliability. sticking with the ecu/tbe is probably the best option between performance and reliability. not to mention the ECU is a reversible process so you could keep your warranty.

i'm interested to see what mods would be good for performance AFTER you put in a TBE/ECU.

I think i will be perfectly happy with the ECU/TBE upgrade...anything else is too much power for my blood.

Cant believe i just said that.

haha... true. i mean to pay a paltry ~45k depending on options to have a great daily driver that will smoke 95% of cars on the road.. it doesnt get much better than that! :rocks:

True that.
I dont mind paying 3k more for such a significant improvement, especially how non-intrucive the uprgade actually is.

Changing downpipes, headers, bigger turbos, intercooler is something i dont want to get into.

It is a BMW after all, not a "kit car"

Road and Track tested the M5 at 4.1 and 4.2. In a straight line the Tooned 335i will be about the same. Maybe in the curves as well because it's lighter?

For LA, 3 would do. And we'd also need some time on a dyno somewhere.

I too am curious about this tuning as i am waiting on a 335i. I also currently own an evo and a wrx. I read that Dustin says his evo has 450hp with all bolt ons available except garret GT series turbo upgrade. Yet Shiv says Dustin's Evo is retaining the stock Evo 8 turbo which is a TD05HR-16G6-9.8T with the 9.8cm² turbine housing. This particular turbo WILL NOT support 450hp. What explains the discrepancy in this?

I believe that R&T tested Euro-spec cars when they acheived those numbers, also...I remember something about "launch program"...
