I think I posted Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" after the song's singer, Gary Brooker, passed away a year ago. Now the song's writer, Keith Reid - who only wrote and didn't sing or play with the band but always traveled with it - has passed on, giving this fan another reminder of what a truly unique song it was during that era. The song came along at the right time, when an unusual pop song could still rise to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
