Guys I had a quick question. I have a 07 335i with 37000 miles on it. I just ordered my Vishnu V4 and will have it tomorrow. I was wondering if the chip would put extra strain on the fuel pump and possibly start causing issues. To date my car has always run fine I just wasn't sure if the V4 programming works the fuel system harder? Thanks

Awesome, had car two months, and had my first long crank on a cold start this weekend. Car cranked about 6-8 times or so then finally turned over. Usually its 1-2 cranks. Then had a slightly rough idle. Since that one incident it has been fine the last 3 cold starts. I guess you can add me to the list, if not now, then shortly.

Hi All-

I been reading a lot of the post on this forum for quite a while, but i finally came across an issue with my 2007 335i. Is been sevaral time my check engine light has come on and upon restart it goes away. Just drop off the car at the dealer and they have ask to leave since they are going to run some diagnostics on it and i ended up taking a shitty enterprise rental since they are out of loaners at the dealear......will have to wait and see what the dealer says......Do i sense HPFP???????

Got the software update today for long cranks despite the fact that my car had a 2FBF code. I'll be back shortly

When one's time is valuable, this method doesn't make sense. BMW even uses software to fix the seat belt handler, and instructs dealerships in a SIB to "not" replace any parts. Kind of funny how software is supposed to fix something that makes a loud clanking noise and physically wont retract. I kid you not I had that thing addressed 4X over 3 1/2 years. On the 5th time the hardware was replaced.

I went through that 3X, what a waste of time. The SES is pesky too, many times goes away though I thought there are shadow codes in the DME that do tell the dealership what transpired. Problem is they reset it themselves and if it doesn't come back, send the customer on their merry way.

One would think that if a relatively new or newer car stalled, or had a light turn on, etc., they'd fix it since there is a full factory warranty. Not BMW.

Well got the car back the next day and they told they found Error code 2A99 in the DME so they replaced the exhaust cam sensor and swap solenoids and said they test drove it and no fault returned.

Well guess what?? Next morning while driving to work 5 minutes after i took off from my house i got the half engine light pop up again on my dashboard. I called the dealer again, brought the car back and this what they said the second time..... found error code 2A82, intake vanos solenoid is mechanically jammed and vanos cann ot adjust the camshaft to target position. Replaced intake vanos solenoid.

So i hope i dont have to go back to the dealer anytime soon.

Its got nothing to do with the fuel.mines a 2009 model and i've been using 98octane here in singapore .the pump failed at aprroximately 16000km ,no 1/2 light whatsoever .complete failure .had it replaced and about 2000km later started to experience long start cranks that eventually led to the engine warning light coming on.the SA changed the fuel switch and cleared the fault but still the same with the cranks.the car is at 24000km now and just took it in for servicing recently and had 2 injectors replaced.cranks are still the same.the SA told me this time if the warning light does come on he is gonna change the pump.

Well, look at it this way; at least you will not receive the recall letter saying you need the software update.

I just bought a 2011 335i this week and I didn't know about this issue, maybe I'd reconsider buying it if I knew, however the car is really just awesome to drive and I understand why everybody still own the car even knowing about the problem.

I hope it takes thousand and thousand miles to happen to me. Will keep updated in the post

I'm not so sure the 2k11 N55 is an issue, although I'm not following it like a hawk. And I don't remember any N54 335is reporting trouble, but again, I may have missed it. I wouldn't worry about it, cross the bridge if you ever get there, other than that, just enjoy the whip! Good luck.

Haha, good point! I suppose the next time it craps the bed I'll actually get a pump. On a related note, the car has started up instantly every time for the last week since I got it back. Can hear a loud pump priming noise when I open the door of my car now, as others have reported with the latest software. Performance feels the same.

So when is a 335i considered to be a lemon? Is it when your car had it's hpfp replaced more then 3-6 times?

In California, a car is a lemon if it has been fixed for the same problem three times and the problem comes back. State laws vary all over the place.

So I have a 2007 328i coupe 44.5k miles

And lately my car has been taking longer than normal to crank up. I don't see any codes throw or anything though. Maybe its just the cold start?

^ your engine doesn't have twin turbos so I believe hpfp's is not your concern. It maybe your starter going out, even on cold starts my car starts in like 1-2 seconds

Had the recall service done and they putin a 933 because they did not have the new 446 pump. Was told there is no difference and the SIB confirms this:

Both parts numbers (P/N 13 51 7 613 933 and P/N 13 51 7 616 446) incorporate the same level of HDP quality improvements. If necessary, in order to expedite the repair time, you may use the P/N 13 51 7 613 933 from your center’s parts stock supply instead of ordering P/N 13 51 7 616 446 from PDC

How can they both have the same level of improvements if one was sitting in the dealership stock for weeks and the other is just shipping now unless the improvement on the new pump is just a new part number.
Makes me think this recall is nothing but a reshuffling of parts and a show. an uninformed owner might not know the different part numbers or what is written on the SIB and think that something was done.

Got my car back today after doing the recall. They replaced 4 injectors (cylinder 1, 2, 5, 6), replace 2 seals, calibrate injectors, clear adaption value.
They also replaced the high pressure pump with part# 13-51-7-613-933. I did not get the newest pump.
