Beater truck is still broken. I'm just too cheap and lazy to fix it. I did drive it yesterday to get mulch and garden crap.... without antifreeze in it. It's only 2 miles away though.

Intake manifold gasket. Common on the 4.3 from what I'm told.

if its the 4.3 vortex with the plastic intake then yes it is very common but a really easy fix

That it is. How easy is it? The book shows it has a loop in the intake manifold that captures the distributor. I gotta pull that too? If so, F-that.

if i remember correctly yes it does, its been a long time since i have done one of those, but its not that big a deal, just mark everything like mark the distributor shaft and intake with tape and a marker, and mark the position of the rotor inside the distributor. those chevy plastic manifolds are junk, from the 4.3 vortex to the 350' in the suburbans and tahoe's. the manifold warps and the gaskets never seal right.

Yup yup. That's the procedure. Ugh!! My bro's suburban had the same part fail. I dont remember, is the new gasket a different material?

i think they went to a thicker gasket now, but sometimes you need to replace the manifold if its too warped, when you take it off use a straight edge on the gasket face of the manifold and make sure its not too warped, or you will be doing the job all over again very quickly.

Will do. It'll be a while before I tackle it cuz I really only use it for winter and landscaping crap around my house. The rest of the time it sits in the barn out of sight.

Speaking of landscaping, I have a ton of work to do at my house today before a party on Sunday. 5 weeks of vacation this year has come in handy. I'll be checking in on you bitches later.
