A good place to start would be oil and cabin air filters. Not too many tools required (especially for cabin filters) and pretty straight forward, plus plenty of DIYs. Pulleys can be frustrating due to space contraints, especially if you have an oil cooler.

FCP euro has some good brake videos if you do your own pads in the future. BMW Fanatic (Lee) on youtube has great DIYs as well. That is a great thing about these cars, they are very popular (and sometimes a PITA) to work on.

The name of the product is Noico; it costs $65.00 for a box of 80mm thick insulation. 36 square feet. It's rated 5 stars on Amazon with almost 600 reviews.

How long did the project take you? What kinda tools did you use? What'd you learn from this-!: what could you share with others. I'm tempted!

How long did the project take you?
A- 2 hours & some change

What kinda tools did you use?
A - small interior, trim tool
8mm, 1/4 drive socket w/ 3" extension
T-20 torx screw driver
HD Scissors
Exacto knife
Special Roller for the insulation, you have to buy
separately
Heat Gun

You will need bmw specific replacement trim fasteners 07149158194 & 51418224768.

What'd you learn from this-!:
A- the lack of insulation in the doors allows sound to go elsewhere other than the cabin. When you add the insulation, the sound in the cabin is more precise & the mid-base is very defined from the 4" speakers in the doors.

what could you share with others.
A- I covered the bottom section of the rear doors so it would be consistent with what I covered in the front doors. In the video, the guy only covers a portion of the plastic, lower section of the door panel. I covered the whole plastic piece of the lower door panel.

I'm tempted!

Nice!! I've been contemplating doing this too. I find there's quite a bit of road noise transmitted into the cabin at highway speeds, especially as other vehicles pass by.

Decided to pretend my new FMIC was installed with my new replacement bumper. Can't wait to swap out the busted one. I did that not even two months into ownership getting Subway for my gf Looks like a kid getting their first adult tooth. Mind is still blown that the bumper cover is so far the most expensive part I've purchased and it's not even friggin painted yet >.<

Hey there, also new here and to the platform bought a '11 335i MT with pretty high mileage. I agree 10000% with them. I told myself if I were to go the BMW route DIY (for me, not rolling in the dough) is absolutely necessary. I've taken the car to mechanics 3 times simply to have them do the I spose official oil/coolant change, recall check and code scan before I touched it as insurance. I bought the Bentley manual also. I did the sparks/coils, water pump & T stat & HPFP replacement using DIY's on the page and a Bavarian Autosport video. Between those three tasks I've saved easily over 2500 in labor. Those tasks aren't really hard, they're time consuming. Read up, watch some vids and give yourself a solid weekend for each maintenance task to account for fkups and you'll be golden!

It makes a huge difference, I still have to drive an hour each way to get to it, but I couldn't afford the real estate in my city for a dedicated shop space.

Either way huge kudos, makes me remind myself to not bitch about the occasional driveway/garage repair I have to do

It's called blue birch but looks more purple for sure. It's a little more subtle than it looks in the pic though. The shop lights made it look brighter.
