Any information on the TSB re: creaking windows? Where they replace "window guides"
Mentioned in this post (#55) http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ng+door&page=3 This issue is driving me nuts! Any help would be appreciated!

Updated list through end of May 2010. BTW I did a review of the body related SIBs and found nothing directly related to creaking windows "window guides".

Hi ya
Your lists have help me on a couple of occasions where the dealership has denied all knowledge of their being a known issue. Keep up the good work. I have gone from and E90 to an E84 (X1) are there any TSB for the X1 yet? Thanks in advance. |

BMWNA is not yet bringing in E84 to USA. Not sure if they will or not. SIBs I list are from BMWNA and not necessarily applicable worldwide, although th etechnical stuff sahould be unless ONLY applicable to US equipment. You may notice gaps in numbers and that for one of two reasons. The missing may be for other worldwide locations or just held in reserve for something being worked on. If/when X1 is brought to USA then they will be included in SIBs.

Is this the thread where you report the latest list of Target Data Status, too?

It hasn't been but probably should be here. I had been using a thread (not a sticky) that I responded to once early on with the list and just kept using it for updates. I will post here (next post) and let ADMINS determine if it should remain here or have its own place (preferably a sticky)

ISTA/P (formerly CIP) list
Updated ISTA/P list:
And a note or two. Recent terminology change (may have been at time ISTA/P came about [ or ISIS] and I simply did not notice) is the coding in vehicle is now titled "Vehicle Data Status" (VDS) vice previous "Target Data Status". This is the information coded into the car at time of a software update and is the only reliable method of determining your software level. Just as a reminder, one individual may have been told they got ISTA/P 2.33.1 and another ISTA/P 2.33.3. They both have the same software: VDS E89x-09-03-520. ISTA/P is a collection of various models' software so while a 5 series may have changes the 3 series may not and of course vice versa.

Hi guys
I need some help I have an E92 320i --- Last November i got the engine management light and the car was shaking immensely It was still within warranty so they changed an ignition coil and was fixed. --- Around march i got the engine management light again and took it in. The mechanical engineer said it was probably because i had too little gas in the tank and the car might have sucked air. --- The last month i was getting huge hesitations and lately with the A/C on i could not drive the car. I took it to the dealers and picked it up today. They changed the following: 1. Knock sensor 2. One ignition coil 3. NO2 sensor --After just a month the car is again kaputt Can anyone tell me if there is a Service Information bulletin concerning this problem? Thanks, appreciate any help

AWESOME STUFF
I especially appreciate the new TSB about excessive cranking to start the engine! What is the difference between TSB and ISB? 1)As I was reading through the list, I saw an ISB for E60 regarding the replacement of valve cover due to cracked screws or something. My e90 325i w/ 127,000 miles has FOUR cracked screws but has not been leaking oil (phew). Any TSB for the e90 yet for that issue? 2) Any update for a TSB regarding the DSC FTM failure (some say the fix is a steering wheel sensor replacement)? It seems there have been a lot of instances of this failure lately |

Also, are TSBs covered with vehicle OUT of warranty? It would seem like they should but want to know before I go to the dealer armed with e90post printouts... especially since BMW techs LOVE to deny they know about any recalls or prior experience with the "problem at hand"

Do not know what an ISB is. SIB is Service Information Bulletin, which is BMW speak for Technical Service Bulletin (TSB). 1) That was pretty old SIB on the V8 engines only. No similar issue with I6 engines. 2) Nothing new in regard to SIB ion this subject. Way back on '06 and '07 the 5 and 6 series had issues with the SZL (Steering wheel sensor) that manifested itself as a DSC, or ABS or Active steering or active roll stabilization errors or failures. As to your next question on in / out of warranty – Each SIB states clearly whether BMW will cover the cost or not and gives the center a special code to use for IN WARRANTY. 99 % are covered but some items will not be. If you are out of warranty you would be obliged to pay regardless. Now it is true that once in awhile you can get the dealer to cover the cost under “goodwill”. That is applied on a case by case basis and works best of you had complained about a problem during the warranty period which subsequently does break after the warranty period. Or it could be something they already repaired once or twice before. You usually have to approach this in a polite but firm manner and often requires going to the service manager and pressing your case. Polite letters often help in this case as well. There are some special cases (I think the HPFP is one example) where BMW has extended the warranty period on that item ONLY for 5 or even 10 years.
