Hello and help please.
I have a 520D last 7 digits of VIN WBANX32030C073231 Build date 22 Sept 2008 – Originally a CCC system. Delivered in Australia in September 2010 I have changed to a CIC with a retrofit system obtained from Latvia several years ago. Everything in car via the CIC works fine BUT not knowing what the original Donor VIN was, I cannot seem to get the 2018 Australian maps to be accepted with the FSC generator. I can download the 1b file without problem and the generator accepts the code, I dutifully select each panel and generate a code. I have tried both the normal and lifetime codes and neither is accepted. I am trying to update the 2014 version premium maps to 2018 premium maps NAVD_000004D6_255_002_159 . The console accepts the map USB and asks for the FSC and this is where it tells me to go away and come back with a good code. Any clues on how I can resolve this issue please? ian@ian-foster.com |

If the CIC is not accepting the FSC from a short VIN then an emulator is probably present. Script activation moved on a few years ago to CIC Patcher.
Generating your own FSC certificates would be a far better solution. |

Thanks chappy, I have used the link to successfully update to the 2018 maps.
To generate an FSC Code, I originally tried to use the automated method using USB stick (by portalseo): https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1461515, but it returned a generic/incorrect VIN of "1234567" due to my car's older production date of 2009-09-25. So I ended up buying an ENET to OBD2 Connector (~AUD $7.50) and followed vespa's method to download the 'generalPersistencyData_DiagnosticSWTController' file and manually extract a valid 1b.hex file: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1154524 A summary of my observations can be found here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...&postcount=306 |

Hi guys, I recently became the proud owner of a 2007 325i, with a few issues but we are working through those!
Reading this topic, I would like to update the Navigation software in my car. I've looked in all the likely spots and do not have any USB outlets! Just my luck. When we bought the car it came with an empty 'BMW Group Satellite Navigation System" DVD jewel case. Should have checked, should have checked a few things! Anyway, is there a way to download the latest maps and transfer to DVD so that I can update mine? Not sure what version I am on, probably my luck it would be 2007 or earlier! |

Try ejecting the DVD from the optical drive (there may be 2 optical drives) to see what map type (Professional or Business) and version (year) is on the DVD. To update your maps, you'll need to download CCC maps for either Professional or Business to match your car. You can't convert CIC maps to CCC. |

Thanks. So I pressed the eject button on the radio/CD player and out came the BUSINESS 2014 DVD Road Map Australia" DVD!
Learning every day! I guess this would be the last release for the CCC system. |

If your navigation system is CIC with PREMIUM maps, you can generate your FSC code here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1461515 What is your car model (E90, etc) and its year (production date)? What version is the current maps installed? (use iDrive to find out) Last edited by bcoz; 09-21-2019 at 09:31 AM.. |

- USB drive should be formatted as FAT32. - After copying the map files, top-level of the USB (root) should only contain 2 items: pkgdb (folder) and config.nfm (file). Make sure there are no other files (especially if created on a Mac). - Used space on USB should be about 4.41 GB. If the above checks out, try using a different USB drive. If it still doesn't work, your download may have been corrupted, so try downloading the maps again. |

For anyone else interested, you also need to extract the 1b.hex file from your car to feed into the FSC Generator. The easiest way to do this is via USB stick as per thread by portalseo : https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1461515 If the extracted 1b.hex file is invalid (contains generic VIN of "1234567") then you have to use an alternative method to extract it. I used an ENET to OBD2 Connector as per thread by vespa : https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1154524 Here's a summary of my experience using vespa's method: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...&postcount=306 Last edited by bcoz; 01-13-2020 at 07:00 PM.. |
