i wonder if you got an m3 manual driveshaft if it would have to be shortened. from realoem the difference between the two is 23mm, from your drawing it is 30mm, thats only about 1/4" difference.

If I'm understanding your question correctly you're curious if you could by a m3 shaft and put it in without having it machined? The trans flange will still need to be changed to fit (if you have a 6mt I don't know about dct flanges or auto Flanges)

i am 6mt, looking at buying a dct diff and axles and getting the driveshaft from a 6mt m3. i was trying to see if i wouldn't have to shorten and just swap out flanges.

@[neuroclast] or @Theconnman2 or anyone else ...My question is probably a dumb one but in this thread the 9th pic with the flanges why does that matter? My mt m3 ds came with the guibo all bolt holes line up with the tail of the my (335 MT) to include that little 2' shaft goes perfectly inside the m3 flange. So why are we cutting it off and putting the 335 flange on the m3 ds?
Is it to facilitate the lining up of the center bearing with the mounting points on the car?

SWAP
It sure did! no problem at all, now at the other end I'm about 1/4' too long past the diff and the center bearing is about an 1' too far back also. This is why after reading thru these posts i was wondering why was everyone hacking off the m3 flange and putting the 335 flange on?

didn't buy the driveshaft yet but called a shop and said it might be difficult. is the driveshaft aluminum? the shop seemed to think all m3 shafts were aluminum and might be a little more involved to weld. the shop has a great reputation so i will wait to get the shaft and see.

No No I was stating that the M3 drive shaft flange at the guibo end fits with the 335 tail shaft of the tranny but upon futher inspection the holes are a little off.

Read through this and I didn't see any mention on if this threw the speedo off or not, I know we have wheel speed sensors to calculate vehicle speed but I don't know if final drive ratio is used to calculate that speed.

M and non M guibos are different. The splines on the transmission output shaft are the same and M flange could be installed (about $250 new part) but again the drive shaft would be wrong length.

nicely done, get the coding done to turn off the e-diff settings completely.
You will notice a huge difference in the way the car reacts with the rear LSD upgrade. kuddos for getting it all figured out, I wanted to do this modification on my E90 back in the day but I couldn't be bothered to match the driveshafts to work. |

Couple of questions for you guys that done this:
1) Are the LH and RH axles the same length? It appears they each have different P/N? 2) do you guys know if the guibo 3 bolt flange on the driveshaft is exactly the same between AT and MT 335i driveshafts? |
