I found this post thru google search. DWR, thanks for sharing. I have the N55 engine in my X5 and use Torque App and trying to get accurate boost readings. Does the custom Boost PID work on the N55 engine also? I know my max may not be 35, but I could change that to like 15 or 20.
As for transmission temp, I think it has to do with the 6 speed transmission used in the d models. I can see transmission temp in my 8 speed, X5 35i. Another member on a different forum wasn't able to see transmission temp on their 6 speed X5 35d as it was greyed out. |

I had the opportunity to try the custom PIDs and only two of them worked. The MAF and another one, I don't remember which one but the boost didn't generate a reading.

The N55 normal max boost is around 7-10 psi from what I gathered and when I floor it, Torque does give me readings within this range. I'm curious as to whether I need to adjust volumetric efficiency from the regular 85% to something higher. I also have a piggyback tune so I don't know if that will give me different readings, but if it does, the Torque boost reading would seem low. |

Really? I just assumed there was since I know that is a parameter that can put the n54 in limp mode. I noticed there were no PIDs for oil pressure either, I guess just no one is worried about monitoring the oil system.

DPF Press Diff
I have been using DWR's October version of his extended PIDs (thanks again DWR!). I have noticed that often times the DPF Pressure Differential reading spikes to the maximum value (95) for a second or so. When this happens it will typically spike repeatedly every 5 seconds or so. This behavior usually happens when the engine is cold but occasionally when warm.
When working, the reading (under full throttle/boost) is around 2.0 freshly after DPF regen and it will reach mid/upper 5s right before regen. Anybody seeing similar behavior to my spiking reading?? |

Yes. There is an "offset" error that is common as well as noise in this measurment for low/no pressure conditions. So under no/low flow it's possible that the "pressure" will flip to look like a "vacuum" due to these errors and the resulting measurement flips to that extreme value.
I've taken a lot of data on this behavior, and how to correct the sensitivity for ambient conditions, for my sensor. It's a very useful sensor for measuring all types of airflow characteristics ... Lots of info here if you're interested and a link to a manufacturers pdf where I got a lot of the equations to describe behavior sensitivities. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...48&postcount=1

I have gotten a fair number of requests for non 335d PID sets.
While I would like to help everyone get better datalogging, that was not the purpose of my post. As I have mentioned before, the information can be extracted from Toolset32. That's how I did it. Unfortunately, I am not expert in the data structures for other BWM models. Moreover, I am not inclined to do the research, as I have plenty on my plate already. Very sorry this stuff is so difficult. You may want to make a contribution to Pheno and get his Testo software. That is another source of info. Good Luck. |
