This is terrific news. Are you planning on dyno testing your car if all goes well?

Great news indeed. A dyno would be great but with this large diff in hp i think a but dyno will sufice. If you dont mind my asking how much did Creative charge you and was it that much because your the first and its prototypeish, or is that just the going rate. Again good news and hope all goes well and you get it by Wed

They gave me the $595 "holiday special" that they where running earlier on.

Dyno would be nice, but lets see if that's going to happen. To do it right, you should do before & after in the same dyno. My car is also a 4wd and I don't know how many 4wd dyno's there are in Dallas.

Anyhow let's take one step at the time. First we need to get the ECU back and the car running. Then I can at least test with my but dyno...

Can you please provide a recap of exactly what they are doing, what parts have been swapped or replaced, and what the expectations are.

Many thanks.

You should be able to pull the fuse on the X-drive and it will be only rear-wheel drive (for dynoing purposes)... Don't quote me on that, but that's how they used to dyno Skyline GTR's and they have the same type of AWD system. Since X-Drive uses computer controlled clutches, it defaults to RWD when there is no power to it.

In the US, the A/T's in the 325 are built by GM France, the 330's are ZF.

Well, I'm not going to start argue about this. But what I have read, 325 and 330 share the same GM gearbox. 335 has ZF.

Well, the DISA motors are already on the manifold in question.

Well, I don't know anything about Skyline's but I know some people have done that with Haldex based Audi Quattro's as well. However I'm not comfortable doing that with my own car, because the drive shaft from tranny to the "X-Drive clutch" would be spinning with very high speed where as front drive shafts are still...

No arguement. I'm 100% correct. 325/328 use GM France Tranny's just like the E46 323/325. The 330/335 use a ZF built transmission (not same transmission, but same manufacturer). It's applicable to this discussion because people are ASSUMING the bump in power can be handled by the transmission of the 325 because it's the same transmission as the 330. That is an incorrect assumption.

Hmmm...

I made a quick comparison in realOEM.com and it looks to me that 325i and 330i are sharing the same tranny. However the torque converter seems to be different, probably because 325i and 330i have different gear ratios in their differentials ?

Here's two links to realOEM.com
