I have another question. To pic up right coding I set production date #0907 before was #1205.
NCS use JBBF70.prg and i think that is for JBBF2.
In my car is JBBF (1) so should be JBBF87.prg
My headlight washers still don't work.
I'd like to code jbbf using expertmode but getting error COAPI-2060,
COAPI-2062
Is it possible ncs use wrong .prg file to coding because of production date ?

Brilliant!!!
I came across this thread, quite by mistake through the forum search, trying to diagnose my 'left low beam' malfunction... another story.
I must say "kudos" (colloquialism from across the ocean) to you Dave and Alex.J

With coding I don't need to turn the switch at all. The halo rings light up in the same way that DRLs do. However they aren't bright enough to be considered as proper DRLs

Great work fella. When i bought my car (Pre-LCI) the previous owner had install cheap HID conversion to the halogens which i quickly removed. I was a little daunted by the prospect of a conversion but after reading this i think i will start collecting parts to carry this out.

Just to clarify though the bear minimum thats needed is:
- Xenon headlights(with ballasts) - doesn't matter which are sourced pre-LCI, LCI, Adaptive, Non Adaptive?
- A FRM that is Xenon Compatible
- The relevant wiring from FRM to Headlight
- Ability to Code

Am i correct in thinking that the leveling sensors are only required if you want the full functionality of the auto leveling?

for adaptive headlights you need FRM with AHL or FRM3 Max Brose

From memory pin 5 on the headlight connector carries the signal from the footwell module to activate the bixenon shutter.

Need more info. Did you fit levelling sensors? How did you wire up the headlights?

hey bish bosh, still confused by drl/AE notions.

I have on 06 with factory fitted pre lci xenons. Upgraded angel eye bulbs to super bright, although they are no where near like modern cars drl brightness. I want better brightness on the halos during the daytime. At present I have to turn the light switch to position one to get the look i want, but as i say they are not super bright and thick.

IF i put in a frm2.xe will that give me the brighter halos for daytime running? And turn on with unlock of the key? I can code.
What then happens with light switch positions?

I see there is an option in the BC stalk for drl but when i activate that it puts the coronas on too if memory serves so i deactivated it and went back to manually turning the light switch to position 1.

You're right that the halos will never be as bright as the more modern offerings.

In this instance when I refer to DRL I mean that the halos are on all the time when the ignition is on - so I don't need to turn the light switch to position 1. No other lights come on, this was done by coding.

If you then turn the light to position 1, the rear lights come on and the halos remain on. Turn the lights to position 2 and the dipped beam comes on.

I don't think you'd be able to get them any brighter even with a frm2.xe, I have the same footwell module and I tried modifying the lines for DRL brightness but it didn't work.

You can try upping the voltage via ncsexpert nettodat coding with some top spec LED bulbs.

LUX Angel eye bulbs are the brightest money can buy for e series. Or slightly cheaper are MTEC 20w bulbs. You can get good results but to get something like the F series you need to send the whole light unit off to OSS to change the actually rings.

I kind of feel like doing this on my E91 LCI as my visibility with philips bulbs In heavy rain is 0 , but I also want to get automatic lighting , is it a lot of work to retrofit just the xenons?

If I want to go to a BiLED projector unit with LED 2 wires (positive and negative ) and solenoid cable(same as my bixenon now)
I just swap xenon ballast(GND and Low Beam wires) with the LED driver? How does the car know if HID is ok or not? Depend on current compunction? or there is some communication between MCU and the ballast HID unit.
