Mine never rebooted nor gave any indication of a change.
I plugged in the USB key, waited 3 minutes with the car running, took it inside and found the file and the batch file on the drive. The script executes on the CIC and causes the HEX file and batch files to be generated and written back to the USB drive/key. |

not working on DVD either
....so I burned the 1st USB stick's maps data to a DVD+R DL. Inserted into car's reader, and car recognizes map update. Yay, I think. Enter FSC code.....wrong FSC code. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here

Wow, looking forward to doing this. I successfully pulled my 1b file and generated an FSC code, just need some time to load the maps.
Is there any reason not to choose a lifetime FSC? |

I even tried to format my 64Gb usb stick with FAT32 ==> same behavior. my 1b.hex seems ok : a file size of 319 bytes, the content starts with 01 01 00 1B. I don't understand where is the problem..... |

OP .....THANK you for this!
I got mine going after a few questions...but really had no real issues.. There was a little confusion on my part...Ill elaborate.. When Unzipping with 7zip, you dont need to unzip them all... just unzip 001 and the rest will be included... the 4 USB folders will be 4-6 gb each when fully unzipped and ready to rock. you definitely DONT need a 32 gb stick...an 8gb stick will work fine...you just have to have the files you want to load in the root in the order of loading them... easiest would be 2 8gb sticks....have one ready to go while you are loading the other Car may shut off while loading, but thats not big deal if you are there...it will pick right up where it left off if you are there to reinsert the key (dont know what happens if it fully goes to sleep, wasnt willing to find out) Also the key generating software is a touch finicky. have patience...go back and forth in the fields a little bit and it will all update fine.... it works, but its a hack so expect it to behave like one. Free and finicky is better than pay for perfect. Last edited by OmahaDZL; 04-29-2018 at 01:58 AM.. |

Mine was build 07/2009. While it was still under warranty I saw a posting about the "shopping cart" bug in the NAV firmware. I complained to the dealer, and they upgraded the firmware to the post 03/2010 firmware. USB map upgrades work for me.

Whenever I launch the FSC_generator.EXE it just opens a MS DOS window which shuts itself down in one second. Any idea what is wrong here?

It depends upon which generator you are using.
One is a command (what you called ms-dos) line program. The Windows version launches a command to download support files. The former must be run as administrator from the command line. The latter may also need admin rights to run since it attempts to write files into the folder it was run from. |

You need to change the Map Type dropdown from Premium to any of the other options, and then back again to Premium. At that point the Region and Maps fields can be selected. It seems to be a bug in V1.01 of the Generator, but the above is an easy workaround.

Hello maybe somebody can help me.
I am driving a E92 with CIC Navigation (Navi Prof). I successfully got my 1B File. I am trying to update my MAPS to Europe Premium West 2018.1 with (1x USB) I generated about 5 different FSC (with and without lifetime) and so on. I plug in the USB some seconds later the Navi Prof recognize the USBUpdate and want the FSC. But it altways says invalid FSC... I tried the method with jaegers generator and the other one with changing the FSC.Bat to 0x28 0x10 Smb may know where the Problem is? |

Thanks to everyone on this forum, and on this thread for the awesome instructions.
Today(a few minutes back) I was finally able to update my maps from 2013 to 2018 Premium NA, with the resources available on this thread. I had to make many attempts in getting the car detect the USB stick. That was the only issue I faced. The FSC key from the generator worked like a charm, and once the car detected the memory stick(out of 8), the contents from all four folders were easily downloaded to the car system. I found two things about the car- The idrive update software available for free in BMW's website can be used only from USB port under the armrest in the center. For map upgrades or pulling the 1B-hex file, the USB port in the glovebox has to be used. |
