How about the old, if you increase boost you reduce lifespan and increase wear and tear on EVERY other mechanical component related to the Motor and Drivetrain.

Nothing is free, and while adding boost isn't going to be a death sentence there is no way around it reducing lifespan of Motor and related components.

LET alone if your "Plug in" module is half assed and runs your engine extra lean, or extra hot. Could mean big problems in short order.

Revlis speaks the truth. You will greatly extend the life span of your car if you keep it stock and drive it around at no more than 3000 rpm, keeping it under 45mph at all times.

But then, you could have just bought a Toyota Yaris and floor it and got the same results.

Nothing is free. Nothing lasts forever. Nothing gold can stay.

The point is to enjoy it while it lasts-- and that goes for everything.

No you're trying really hard to not see the point... The point is that you can run the piss outta the thing all day in Factory tune and have no worries. OR You can take an inexpensive bit of electronics and using it get extra horsepower in trade for reduced engine life and increased wear and tear on the entire drivetrain.

Simple.

There is just this misguided notion that somehow Vishnu and the others have found some "Magical Free Horsepower". It's not free, it'll be paid in full through reduced lifespan. There are no freebies when we are talking increased boost in an otherwise stock motor. Motor simply will not last as long and will eat ancillaries as it goes.

I totally agree, but tuned properly and well maintained, it may last 95% as long as an otherwise stock car. Most folks don't floor it all the time when they drive and put alot of freeway miles on their modded cars.
My buddy has a 97 450-500 whp daily driven Supra with over 160K original miles and he started modding at around 30K miles with no major powertrain issues.

Rev, I wasn't disagreeing with you, buddy. No sarcasm when I said you speak the truth... nothing in life is free, including the tune.

But-- the Yaris still sucks.
