Radiator is an easy job, but when you have to do it along with everything else... big sigh... In other news, today I swapped out the dangerously thin brake pads Moderately worn hatch switch And totally disgusting door handles And still made it to Venice to see a Trucker! Was the brake pad light on when you bought it?

I already have a Nissens ordered, coming in mid-week. I'm probably going to do an oil cooler upgrade as I have all the parts. I need to do OFHG, so basically combine the two projects! Oh yeah, and water pump... so the three projects! I don't know how a door handle can get that bad. Although at least it wasn't wrapped with electrical tape like the last wagon we had was! I bought some cheapie pulls from Amazon and while the fit is fine, the color is off and look pretty bad. I'm sending them back but am waiting for some replacement ones. Venice was great, dinner and a show! Plus just walking around geeking at the houses is great. Only downside is we got there pretty late so couldn't walk the canals. |

Looks like I'm documenting the process and progress on this car, hope y'all enjoy the ride!
Kind of a piddling day today, doing a bunch of little stuff which TBH is my favorite part! Started out by swapping out interior bulbs to LED. Much brighter, cleaner, and a more modern look IMO. Ran out of bulbs, so a few still need it. But pretty close to complete! Whilst inside, I cleaned and repaired the cupholder using the ziptie method. Sheesh that thing was dirty. Gotta' side with the Germans on this one... cars aren't made to eat and drink in!!! Swapped out brake bulbs and the errors cleared, so no FRM issue! Tried to swap the DRLs but I bought the wrong bulbs (updated below!). In the process of figuring that out I dropped a screw in the cavity. Luckily I was able to get it out with a magnet. It was a tense moment or two while I was trying to locate it. In the end NBD. (updated below!) Unfortunately I bought H8 bulbs which are not even close. I need actual small bulbs, anyone know the type? H8 is what I found listed, so IDK... Moved on to the other end and did the hatch struts. What a difference! Although I noticed there is a big clunk when it hits the upper stops. It was there before the struts, just hadn't noticed it till I focused on that area. And while in the area, I debadged it which is a household requirement. I was kept outside, so paint is a little faded around it, but it came out pretty good. Can only really notice it in a certain light. No outline: Outline: And finally, anyone know if the screen tabs can be purchased? Driver side is missing one and the screen falls into the slot when released. I can fish it out with a pick tool, but would prefer to actually fix it :-) So that's it for now! The easy cosmetic list is getting shorter, but the harder mechanical list ain't going anywhere for a while longer! Edit: I don't know what those little bulbs were, but the H8s are indeed angel eye/DRL bulbs! I felt something wasn't right and went back out after the intial post, and whoomp, there it is! Added some LED bulbs to get the color closer to the Xenons: And voila, down to a single error showing up!!! I'll worry about that when I have everything torn down for the water pump. Rains coming in soon, gotta' fix as much as I can before it hits Monday! Last edited by StradaRedlands; 12-18-2023 at 09:29 AM.. |

That's likely by design to help the cats light off faster. MANY modern cars do this.

Nicely done! The little bulb is the cornering light - leave the headlight switch in auto and enjoy the full effect of the dynamic xenons. Your car should have an FRM2, no need to worry about a bricked module. Code in AHL2 for the full effect!

Speaking of zip tie hacks, here's the updated fix for keeping the sunshade from dropping into the cavity:
Anyone know if the tab handle is sold individually? I can't find a p/n for anything like that. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_5837 |

Holy 💩 a montego E91. This is what I'm talking about Strada. Nice! A paint correction and ceramic coating can go a LOONG way!
Also- are you sure you wanna stop at 17s? I heard 18s with tall tires are pretty slick too

Started the alarm installation process! I'm assembling the parts from ebay, ebay UK, and FCP, so they're coming in bit by bit. The ultrasonic sensor came in first, so today was the day for that! I did a little write up for it as I didn't see an E91 specific one anywhere, and it is a little bit different:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...2#post30745842 In keeping with the interior work theme, I also swapped in a second set door handles (the poorly colored first one is on the left, and is much lighter colored IRL): And then I organized my storage facility: Hopefully I can beat the weather can do the diff fluid tomorrow. Easy job, but not so fun if it's raining! Last edited by StradaRedlands; 12-19-2023 at 08:05 PM.. |

I didn't see this question originally, and it is pertinent! I mentioned above that the CIC shows green/OK for everything, but when I scan the CBS status on my Foxwell, it shows front & rear brakes as well as oil (maybe others, can't remember) at 0%. I tried resetting which is normally easy, but it says unable to reset. So something is screwy! I wonder if the CBS was turned off somehow via coding? Also replacement battery (little bitty thing) was never coded/registered, so that's a problem as well. :-/

So CBS is working now! I don't know what I did, but it shows up fine. Previously everything said 0%/0 history. Now it looks as shown below! I updated the brakes, so yay me!

Condition-based servicing. As in, the car is monitoring the condition of the various parts instead of just using fixed service intervals.
