Went with a local company in Germany and only paid 37 euro a month for the same coverages.
Brother recently retired from 20+ years of service. he never used USAA so I could not get specifics from him.

That is such a difference between quotes!

I guess nothing stays the same. Thanks for the clarification.

I preemptively requested a quote from Geico back in December and it was outrageously high. I'm hoping the comments in this thread are more realistic to what I'll be paying.

Try Progressive. They beat everyone for me. Very happy with their service & tools too.

Just to add another datapoint:

34M, Colorado, Clean driving record

Progressive got me a premium of $878/6mo.

I was with Allstate before and the best they could do was ~$1300/6mo with worse coverage. Other quotes I received were also north of $1k, except through Costco (American Familiy I think) which was just over $900.

Geico was offering me $1300 - $1600 / 6mos with pretty big deductibles depending on the coverage. For context I'm early 20s with perfect driving record for 7 years.

Geico seems to hate this car. Try progressive.

Progressive actually has slightly worse coverage and they are still asking for around $600 more.

Insurance makes absolutely no sense lol. My progressive coverage is really good and was easily the lowest quoted.

Comparing insurance costs is pointless. There are way too many variables at play. Only some of which are driving record, age, location, amount of coverages, some states require different coverages, how long you’ve been with the insurance company, multi policy discounts, oftentimes when comparing 2 companies you can’t even match up the coverage 1:1, and the list goes on.

I have a question for anyone who is paying around $2500 a year to just insure their M240i. Do they kiss you or do they just f*ck you? I mean, seriously. Wow. That is rough.

My quote from Geico was $2300 for a 6 month premium...

The range between companies is crazy.

Oh crap!

Here is the effect of inflation and some other BS. I just got my renewal letter along with a PRICE INCREASE LETTER.

I have 4 vehicles and the rate on increase varies from 39% to 43%. Average increase is 41%. The M240i with full coverage went from $1,160/yr to $1,646/yr. This is for 51 yo w/ super clean driving record.

Check out the facts/justification below:

Quote:
Important information about your upcoming policy renewal and rate increase

We value you as a customer and appreciate your trust in Wawanesa to protect you when it matters most. Your auto insurance renewal premium has increased significantly, and we want to offer additional information about why rates are rising dramatically throughout the insurance industry.

The cost of providing insurance coverage has increased significantly since we last increased rates for all our customers in 2018. This is due to a variety of factors:

- Serious injuries resulting from accidents have increased 12%, impacted by increased speeds
- The cost to repair vehicles (including parts & labor) has increased 40%
- The cost of replacing used vehicles when totaled has increased 60%
- The cost of medical claims has increased 55%

Due to these significant costs increases, it is necessary for us to adjust our rates to reflect these increased costs. We want to apologize for the effect this increase may have on you personally and we are taking this step only because it is necessary to cover the substantially higher costs to settle claims. Our rate increase has been approved by the CA Department of Insurance.

Despite our increase in rates, we remain competitively priced because insurance companies throughout the industry are also grappling with these cost increases to settle claims and they too are raising their rates or soon will be.

We truly value your business and wanted to alert you to the significant cost increases that are driving us to take this difficult action. We also want to offer our support to review your policy and evaluate your coverages and deductibles with you.

Even with the higher renewal premiums, mine still seems better than some here. Inflation alone will probably make all insurance companies raise their rates. My insurance company is a highly rated one but they only insure in California and Oregon (Canada too, I think).

But you are right, it doesn't hurt to shop around.

I had GEICO for almost 30 years and NEVER filed a claim. Someone hit my parked car. GEICO undercut my estimate by $700 and would not change despite my lotality and driving record. I told them I would drop them and they could not care less. So I did!.
