Cool, let me know how that goes. I didn't post anything about it because I'd like feedback. I don't foresee any issues. You can always flash back to stock, since there's no program mods the risk is minimal.

Looks like a 6-point box wrench could still get that off. Don't ever use a 12 point on a hard to reach fastener. Also, you can tap the wrench with a 5lb hammer to force it loose.

Years ago I sorted all my tools by 12 or 6 point. I only use the 12 point if I have no choice or can't find the 6 point version..

I'll see if I can later I ended up screwing it up a bit more so idk. Moronic move to use a 12 point end of the wrench but the open part slipped too.

Just checked battery voltage and was at 12. Gonna drive the car around for a bit before flashing. Last thing I need is to end up like that guy on the other post who's battery died and almost bricked the ecu

Always use the box end of a 6 point. 12 points flex too much (so does the open end). We used to joke that they were designed to round off bolts.

Might be worth taking it to a shop for the rest, and get a new plug put in.

Yeah I might do that. I never use the 12 point side I had to screw up by doing it this time lol. Vice grips would grab nicely but not nice enough to get it off.

Don't really want to flash it on the same fluid even though I'm pretty sure it won't be much of a difference, it could be. So I'll postpone it until I get it changed out.

That code is I believe related to the transfer case and sets off after a specific mileage if you meant the 578e one. I had the fluid supposedly changed at an Indy almost a year ago but who knows if they actually changed it or just put the shudder fix additive for the gm transmission. I'll be changing it with maxlife and we'll see if it goes away.

you need to reset the oil wear life via ISTA, code wont go away otherwise

That fill plug is a soft POS. Ain't just your 12pt. My 6pt still rounded that mofo. I said f-it and used what would normally be the dipstick plug: it's on a ledge towards the front right of the transmission. You pull up...there's a more detailed and pictured distribution in the transmission DIY. You can fill from there without issue.

When you round that out, it's easier to replace (read: tap out) the fill plug when you're doing tranny mounts and giubo as the clearance ain't really there.

Anyway, trying to help you along so I see more results :P

you should be able to do it in INPA too. I definitely did it on our E91, it wasn't hard - certainly easier than downloading, installing, and making work yet another diagnostics program..

I'll see if I can mess with it one of these days in inpa to clear it. I haven't changed the transfer case fluid itself so idk if I even should clear it.

Rather glad I didn't do the flash yesterday because well I moved the car around a bunch of times and didn't really drive it so it might have drained the battery a bit and got this today morning.

Aswell as a few of these came new, maybe some other, specially A559 and A6CF. The 2E83 I'm sure is because I drained the coolant lower than the upper hose to replace it and did the bleed procedure yesterday.

Gonna be flashing it in a few mins just setting everything up. Didn't change the atf but it was changed a while ago so no biggie also I destroyed that fill plug so I'll do it eventually lol. So this resets the transmission adaptations? Will I have to do to the readaptation process after flashing it?

Mhm I get this message saying wait for control file when I open the batch file.

Edit: never mind it had to be closed and opened again for it to flash it seems, now it's doing it

Let me look. Could be a typo.

Edit:. ninja edit! I checked and it looks fine. The main possible failure is the wrong Ctrl/ipo file name, but I think they're good. Keep us posted!

Alright so I drove it a bit softly as it's raining and I have no driver aids lol quick 5 min drive around the neighborhood review is:

Bit smoother going from D to R and viceversa specially from R to D though this can vary a bit sometimes.

Torque converter behavior is noticeably better, the transmission feels more direct is the best way I can describe it. If you're in D mode it feels like the engine has more of a direct correlation from rpm to how it pulls which I can assume is the converter allowing less slip. Shifts in D are a bit faster, sometimes quite a bit faster than stock. Biggest difference is downshifts, they're definitely faster and happen earlier, on the stock tune you often have to almost mash the pedal to get it to drop a couple gears, now it does it when it senses a bit you wanna go faster and it does it nicely. Also these shifts while being faster are also just as smooth or smoother than before sometimes can't be felt if driving easy on the throttle.

DS mode was something I hated on the stock car and now it is bearable because it doesn't hold gears to the moon and works smoother. Still not perfect but def better.

Manual mode is great! Transmission feels very direct and shifts happen faster than before, mostly when you're actually accelerating and not granny shifting like I often do. Best way to notice this is if you have paddles as they are now usable and greatly responsive.

Ofc I might just be selling everyone on it from my placebo effect lol but I do think it's definitely better and the car needed it. I'll give a verdict as I drive more in the next few days as this all could be adaptations stuff

I'm sure it does. The way this works is BMW puts out a design spec, and the manufacturers bid to match it - I doubt BMW regressed their basic functionality requirements, although they almost certainly detuned things from higher up models on the 328i. What better way to convince you needed 20 more hp over a 330i? :P

Well, if it exists then I don't know where to find it. I tried going through service manuals and searched online and couldn't find it.

the gm box just learns, all the time.

It operates a bit differently. It's programmed to maintain shift times. So it uses the input and output sensor speed data and a bunch of fluid sensors to figure out the volume and pressure required to meet it's programmed shift times.

drive it easy for the first 50 miles after you reset adaptations and it will be fine. just don't let it slip clutches on the first few shifts as it figures out WTF is going on.

GM basically says to never do a service learn reset unless you've changed hardware, and the previous learned settings would be dangerous maybe for a new valvebody as compared to the standard starting point.

obviously the GM literature and TSBs are far better at explaining all of it than the BMW stuff, since they use 6L based stuff in a zillion applications.

Hey guys, I tried flashing my friends 330i MSV70 with the RSA delete and stock file and his car won't start afterwards. The only way to get the motor to start is to flash stock via comfort mode in winkfp twice. WinKFP ZB# is 7623405 which matches the Bimmerlabs ZB#.

In my attempt to tune his car, I defined a lot of things from the MSS70 OLS file and found the locations in his software version but not even my tuned ODA will let his car start.

The batch files will flash successfully with no errors but it still wont start. Just crank.
