you guys can add IDPARTS.COM to the list if they are registered vendors on here yet, they are some stand-up guys for maintenance parts. Used them for all my parts on my Jeep Liberty CRD, and Grand Cherokee CRD

Cool, but that one is the OEM king...its actually Husker BMW of Lincoln (Ne) ...cheapest place to get OEM that Ive found.

Pull the EGR and look inside. Boroscope will help a ton with this. Or pull the intake manifold and look. Neither are too hard to do. EGR is easier.

I dunno....I think Id leave the EGR because of those 2 bolts down low and pull the manifold. Personally thats the one Id rather take off... plus, MUCH easier to scope...

A topic that are likely to come up for new D owners is the JBD by Burger Tuning (and the more recently released one by Dinan)
The JBD is a VERY simple product that can add quite a few hp/torq to your car for a low cost and very simply. It clips in between the fuel rail pressure sensor and the DDE....when the DDE calls for 15000mbar, the JBD tells it its only getting 10,000.....so the regulator continues to put more pressure to the rail.... thus turning everything up a bit. (numbers are hypothetical to show the concept) This can be adjusted in the JBD with a small screwdriver. Many people have experienced codes being thrown when turned up entirely.....I always ran at 80%-ish and never had an issue. This thing will NOT allow you to override any codes...like EGR or Nox or anything of the sort...you will need a tune for that. And to that end....many people that were previously running JBDs have now retired them for tunes... if you prefer a JBD (or live in CA), they are available on the board, just post that you are looking for one. Figure about 100 plus shipping. As for the Dinan version, its relatively new and connects to your phone via bluetooth and is adjustable. I only have one anecdotal piece of info about it....that it threw codes and didnt work for my friend...thats not to say that his experience is typical, its just all I have heard so far. Good luck. Another thing that new 335d owners will undoubtedly run into is injector issues around 100k miles. The BMW dealership will tell you the book says to replace them all, at $650 each. They will not test each injector and replace the bad one. Torqu3: Yo stated that the Circuit Werks 335i exhaust could be modified to work? How do you do that and which DP will it interface best with? I like the looks of that system and the price sure is great!

This is a miss match diameter wise. If you need to run taller in front (normal size is 225/40/18), the rears would need to go taller too i.e. 255/40/18. Your suggested combo has fronts with side wall ~0.47" (thats' 0.94"/2) taller sidewalls. Change in sidewall height is a radius thing not diametral.
Here are example diameters for Mich Pilot Super Sports (listed specs, not straight math). size diameter (in) 225/40/18 25.10 225/45/18 25.94 255/35/18 25.00 255/40/18 26.02 General rule is to keep diameters within 4% but I would go closer than that if possible. If you do as your entry asks, the % difference would = (25.94-25.00)/25.00=.0376 or 3.76% Going taller in back as well gives %diff=(26.02-25.94)/25.94=0.0031=0.31% |

Looks like I'll be getting my first 335D within a couple weeks and this thread has helped a ton! I've owned a number of diesel trucks so I'm a little familiar with all the alphabet stuff but still learning for the 335D. I see a lot of discussions about "piggybacks" vs tunes. What exactly is the difference if someone could explain it a little better to me? I think I have a general idea, but want to verify that I have it right. Or point me to a thread that breaks it all down. Thanks!
