Hi Kirk, Late March/early April is a great time to be in Bavaria, still some winter fun in the mountains, everyone piling into the outdoor biergartens. I have to give a talk at the U Montpellier in early April, don't think I'll get a chance to be up in Germany, probably stick to S. France with the kids -- Carcasonne, pyrennees, coast. Really wish I could pack my 335 into a suitcase. Or rent an E90 M3!

So I flew to Barcelona in April and rented a 116 from Sixt. Drove up the Costa Brava to Montpellier, went to a conference there -- what a cool place, oldest continuous medical school in the world -- then drove back through Andorra and the Pyrenees. Awesome driving roads!!! Wish I had the 335 though, the 1 series is nice, but I much prefer the 3 series. A lot cheaper to rent a 1 series though. All in all, not the same experience as Euro delivery.

Man Doc! Thanks for sharing the pix and story. Sounds epic. Unbelievably beautiful shots and great write-up. Were the prices indicated in the budget portion Euro's or American $$$? Not bad at all if US prices...
I'd love to sample the 335dT as well for the next vehicle, but with the rising prices of diesel it looks as if that won't be a very wise choice down the road... |

Everything in USD$.
The 335d is a smart buy. A 320d would be a smarter move for BMW NA to import. Or maybe 123d and 330d.

Great Pics! Have been there and it's truly awesome. I just ordered a 328 convertible and your pics convinced me that we will have to do ED when we replace the '00 Merc sedan (with a BMW of course -- The Merc was an aberation.) We LOVE southern germany and switzerland. Just got back from Maggiore and Orta... can only imagine the trip with a brand new Bimmer!

Still loving this car after three years.
Put the M-sport 'aero' front bumper and black gloss grills on after a minor fender bender -- probably would have been zero damage except the truck that inexplicably stopped in the midst of a right turn had an obnoxious protruding trailer hitch that punctured the plastic bumper.

Had a brief hitch in a 320d in Turku, Finland. Quite a few Russians driving some interesting Bimmers around.

Four years now. Out of warranty. Debated buying extended warranty, but car has been so reliable that I fantasized that a set of BBS rgr forged rims would be a better investment... Taking care of my kids, however, always is first priority

Really love taking this car out on the back roads in heavy snow. Maybe next ED I will swap out the rfts for some proper winter tires and do some winter alpine touring.

Coming up on 5 years with this car. Still reliable, great service dept at dealer. Might have to wait until 2013 to replace my 335 with the new M3. I am a turbo addict at this point, and life is short so as appealing as a 320d would be, the real appeal of a BMW is performance. And that means either a Z2M or the M3.

Still here, still loving my 335. Like the new F30 335 M version though, but the 328 might be a good lightweight option.

Replaced my sparkplugs, air filter, oil, etc. and popped Procede V5 back in.
This car continues to amaze! Really hoping to upgrade suspension with AST/Swift system. Looking forward to a long driving trip to NM through CO. You can almost imagine being back in the alps.

It's great to see somebody enjoy and appreciate a car long term, I am similar in that regard.
I torture myself time to time looking and e46 and e90 M3s but when I am driving my car I really don't think about it, I just enjoy.

Strategic modding helps pass the time... Bits like your LSD, M3 control arms, etc. can inspire renewed passion (in addition to potential practicality in a place like Buffalo!). I am really happy to see BMW get more invested in the long-term modifications market.
