I know my friend is in the process of converting his 06 A4 back to stock because he has a cat back exhaust and an APR tune. he got flagged for it. people at the place told him that Mass is starting to get a lot more strict and might adapt California's emission laws... Hope not.. I have inspection soon and I'm hoping I can just find someone who I can give a little extra to for a sticker.

If we adopt california emission laws I will be pissed. we are actually rather lenient to be honest.

Yeah tell me about it..... And this happened to my friend only within the last week. Also, he bought the car with all of the stuff already done to it and passed emissions last year no problem. then all of a sudden this year he's getting ass slammed and he can't even sell it unless he goes back to stock. He called me right away to warn me about everything..

Yeah I guess so, but now I'm worried about installing the VRSF relocating inlets incase they do a visual test. And also skeptical about installing my new AEM V2 meth kit. instead of a single kit i'll be fine with two big ol' upgraded twins

I was just talking to a Subaru guy in South Cali and it's crazy what they go through, but at least it's once in 2 years...I am so glad MA doesn't do sniffer tests...he was telling me that he gets stopped all the time and cops there send you to "State Referee" if they stop you an suspect you have aftermarket emission parts and there at "State Referee" they thoroughly inspect your car based on emission standards so you have to put your cats back on every time before going there
Side Note: just inspected the subaru today at a BP station in Mehtuen, this guy is the best literally just gave me a sticker even after Subaru dealer said I needed new tires to pass inspection |

Funny story went to get the car inspected yesterday and I got rejected. Failed every category!!!
Then on the way home I remebered I got a misfire before pulling off the highway at Wot the night before. Cleared it in the driveway and shut the car down. How long will it take to clear that up guys? |

After I clear codes I usually just commute for a week and then head back and am fine. You can go back whenever you want they just plug it in and in about 10 seconds can see if the readiness checks are ok.

So to summarize, catted or catless is fine with cobb stage 2 no need to uninstall but make sure you clear codes and drive for a week before inspection. Buy the Amazon readiness checker and check prior as well?

Drove 90 miles and went back in for a second try. No go! One came back ready, Evap sensor. All the rest were still not ready! Guy said after three times I'm out of luck and have to go to the car max station. WTF is he talking about?
Anyways car is running well and I have no current codes so I'm a bit dumbfounded! |

ok to put rumors to rest... I have catless downpipes and Cobb stage 2 tune and passed inspection today when hooked via ODB... only one not ready monitor and the rest were ready so it was a go ... it's been about 300 miles since the last ecu flash I did so the drive cycle was definitely done
