Scott26,
I like everything you have said here: CSL, harder edge, bookend of BMW M, latest progressive innovation, lightweight materials, special aeropacket, and performance equipment. I don't mind the crazy design as I would like a car that stands out with its form and function......it will not be my DD. (Don't pay attention to those content with a typical DD M car) But please expand on whisper eDrive and eBoost. Are you hinting that some hybrid tech may be coming to a new M or CSL?
Electric based turbos are coming soon. Rumoured next Audi RS4 also so rolling out across the industry. Takes up initial mini boost with zero lag, think EV torque from 0 RPM. Then bigger boost trad turbo kicks in. Smart, can't wait!

I for one am heartened by the CSL-M concept. Yes it's a little ostentatious but cleaned up it would look completely different from everything out there. Obviously, the N/A days are gone but if you can offer the track/handling performance of a 911 or even better Cayman GT4 coupled with a cleaned up design, lightweight carbon structure, in a white color with the ///M racing stripes like the old bat mobile (CSL), it would be a winning combo and a true halo car. The current ///M lineup is looking too similar to them heir non-M brethren that you can barely tell them apart. Time for avant-garde styling and performance that will shock the automotive world!

No this thing drives and all. Has side exit exhaust. IIRC, it's a NA inline 6. BMW style of course. I'm not sure if it goes faster than 10kph/mph though. But it does in fact run and drive.

Don't be. The fact they have chosen to refine the concept so close to original unveil means there is some interest to consider producing it.

I really like the CSL.

This would make for an interesting car.

The M4 will look just like the Moto GP safety car. And we will not get it in the U.S..., probably.

Seeing the M2 today or tomorrow does not change production availability. So we can wait...

Only the CSL makes us dream at a concept - and a working version, at that. I admire that design!

I'm guessing and FWIW, the design conversation centered around the picture on the left. The car on the right, posted earlier, looks somewhat like it.
The comments that went along with the picture were:
"But the sibling is the decision to bring more emotional response and make specific M cars more visceral in every achievable way possible.
M cars have that recognisable brand like Porsche which means they get full attention when something new appears on the horizon."

Have you ever seen this? Some elements relate to the M2 as you can see some ideas are still specifically on street cars but details will be very familiar.

Thanks for that; but whatever happened to BMW's 100 birthday gift to itself (and us)? Are we getting a super car based on the i8? A modern 2002? Or CSL reborn (and designed more elegantly)?

Go on, you know you want to tell us...

I've heard it's an M4 and a modified CSL supercar. Which pretty much goes with what is being predicted. And the modded CSL will be on sale next year for the 100th anniversary.

That sounds about right, but haveing spent the last few days driving the i8, I a cannot help but feel the disappointment that it is an amazing package that cries out for more.

such a an amazing chassis and style deserves to more forward to the next level.

I know a modern CSL will be amazing in concept and execution but that really should be production series halo car for the "M bookend".

For a 100th birthday, I would treat the world to something truly special.
