I don't doubt that at all, I live in a place that's full of them. They just get tickets usually and that's the end of it.

I feel you @csu87 but i'm sure 1083 kills werent terrorist attacks either. people get killed all the time for making a wrong movement or petty crimes by untrained officers.

I have the right to bitch as much as i want about a ticket (not saying i do i cant remember my last ticket) its not my job to be happy or not be pissed about a ticket. Its his job to be a public servant he gets paid for it.

What he doesnt get paid for is to give me a mental evaluation and take someone to a mental hospital.

Lot of people like to play the race card and it might be true in some cases but not all is just lack of training imo.

Also gonna go out on a limb and say the majority of the cops killed by criminals werent doing anything illegal and probably not being a danger to the public.

Just saying.

If you cant accept the fact that you were caught in the wrong and are getting a ticket because of it so you feel the need to treat the officer like shit, why would you think the officer is going to treat you nicely? No cops cant just pull you over cause you are being a dick to them, ie flipping them off, making faces/gestures towards them..., but it will make them watch you closely, and there are many little nuances to the law that they know and the average person does not, so you will get pulled over and ticketed.

Cops have almost zero training when it comes to dealing with the mentally ill.

It's like a vicious cycle. People get wind of potentially anecdotal evidence that police mishandled a situation involving an African American and then they're more likely to lash out towards law enforcement should they be pulled over or stopped, which then causes police to react in a way that may or may not be appropriate, thus making things worse.

Is that the case here? Maybe, maybe not. We obviously only have half the story. But people are quick to jump to conclusions, you yourself already said you hope she wins a big settlement after only hearing her side of the story.

if you know me well enough, you will know i don't care about political correctness. I speak my mind and i don't need to sugar coat anything to make it palatable for anyone.
I believe in JUSTICE and fairness of everyone. I am not African American, i am Jamaican. that being said when i am seen in America, I am seen as a BLACK man, and I am aware of that. Do you think i care about Justice for blacks but unconcerned about justice for every other race/ class or human beings?
you my friend are greatly mistaken.....

Never said that, just that statistically minorities tend to be the target for potential unfair treatment by law enforcement.

Sorry if you took it as such.

And I thank god everyday for living in Canada. Cops wouldn't getaway with this kind of nonsense here. Just because I live in Canada doesn't mean I can't have any opinion about it. Today a 14 year old student was handcuffed in a school in Texas because he built a clock and brought it to school. Cops had no problems putting him in a room and intetogating him for absolutely no reason. Unless you live in a minority's shoes and be subjected to these kind of nonsense, please have a seat and thanks for playing.

Just wondering... how have you been "subjected to this kind of nonsense" if you live in Canada and cops couldn't get away with it there?

Don't worry, even though you are in Canada, I'm certain you'll be welcomed on the bandwagon - plenty of room for all on it.

I call it the victim phenomenon. In short, it's people who have never gone through shit trying to relate to people who have.

Downplays it a bit don't you think? The clock was in a metal suitcase, which if you watch too many movies, plays heavily on the whole bomb thing.

Do I think the school and authorities overreacted a bit? Yea I do, but I could understand the whole worry of creating a hoax bomb, which is what the school initially suspected he was doing. Again I don't think it required calling the cops. Of course if you're to believe social media, you'd think he created a normal digital clock and was tackled by SWAT.

If you saw that randomly laying around you'd probably scratch your head in a "wtf" fashion. I think in all the situation ended well for everyone. No charges filed and he's been invited to NASA, the White House, and who knows where else.

But yeah, cops in America love to beat on minorities. I'm a minority and I've been pulled over by police for various reasons but have never had any trouble with any of them, I've also treated them with respect and courtesy. But what do I know? You're clearly the arbiter on minority voices in North America it sounds like.

Never said I was the arbiter of monorities but like to point out truth when I see it. The kid had told the teacher repeatedly what his project was about but they chose to ignore it. If you think being handcuffed at age 14 and interrogated by few policemen in a room without your parent being present means "the sotuation ended well"", then I don't think you understand the impact on the kid, even though you claim to be a minority. What if he was your son and this had happened to him? I bet you'd think differently.

I have been subjected to these kind of nonsense not in Canada, but in your great country purely on the basis of race and colour. I travel a lot due to business and it's always the same story. Thanks for asking.

So when you travel to the U.S. for business you are typically subjected to police brutality, false imprisonment and general harassment by law enforcement officials? I'm sure it has nothing to do with your attitude about the U.S. or law enforcement so maybe you could take measures to minimize trips to a place you hate so much. Ever file a formal complaint resolved in your favor?

Yeah apparently he gets a full cavity search every time he goes through customs here in the US.
