I have the same problem.... i get many fault codes about the DME and the car only crank and not start. when i delete the fault codes i can drive it for a while then its shout down again... I have also figure out that when the car get al the fault codes about the DME conection i turn ignition off put a battery charger on + in the engine bay and ground on suspension tower then i can start the car. the voltage before battery charger is about 11.9 volts... please help me!

Iv'e the same problem with my E63.
It started that the engine stoped during driving. After a while it started again. So problem solved. Now a few weeks later the enigine stoped and later started again for about 15 min. Now the enigine won't start any more but the enigine does crank. Iv'e checked the fuses and relais. They are all good. So has anyone any idea of what it could be? In the attachment is the readout of ISTA. Yeah i know there are a lot of failures in which has nothing to do with this problem but they have been there for ever. Hoping someone can help me out. |

Thread revival sorry...
2005 BMW E61 530D B501102 I blew the M57 up... SO I changed the long block, used all the good sensors from the old engine (It ran but was knocking) Changed injectors, Only sensor I didn't change was the crank sensor... (This may bite me) I am about ready to push the car down the street and set fire to it but hey here we go... Firstly no crank, DME became unsynced to whatever in the car, got it resynced and it cranked but no start, 2 injectors leaking by 100% so that was fun, swapped them out and it started, FAB Leak off pipe broke so waited a week for BMW to ship me a new one, then the junction piece on the return off the HPFP broke so another week goes by. Swapped all that out, got the car through its inspection, Thinking win, it is sorted, drove great, absolutely zero issues. Driving home had a trans malfunction, got itself into a hissy fit when going from 4th to 5th and so went into limp mode. Pulled over, ignition off, door open, door closed, ignition back on and its cleared. Win (I have been fighting this issue for a long time with this car, changed gearbox a month before and its still there but that is a separate issue I think) Parked it out front, shut off fine, no errors and running great, Went to move it a few hours later and nothing, Cranks but wont start. Plugged it in and using Autocom with a delphi adapter it will not talk to the engine ecu... Which it did previously a few weeks before (Coded the injectors to the car) But I have 6 errors on the I drive. 1. Trans fault! 2. Cruise control failure 3. Drive control failure 4. Restraint system failure 5. Servotronic failure 6. Fuel pump failure And then I have 2 codes in the TCM which are 5140 - No message from the engine electronics, receiver EGS, Transmitter DME-DDE - Intermittent 5149 - No message from the power module, Reciever EGS, transmitter CAS/PM - Intermittent. Anyone with any ideas? Been 2 months now without it and struggling now borrowing vehicles from people... Race season is upon us and need the car to tow the race gear to the track.... Thanks |
