I have the STRI mechanical gauge and have it wired to a switch under the dash so I can dim it whenever I want. I forgot what kind of switch it was, but you can get one from radioshack.

Hey guys...
The current kit will come with everything you need to make the gauge dim, etc... It will come with the wires, the tap-ins, and instructions to show you how to get to the wires you need. -Rick |

I'm really interested, but I wanted to check.
Are the e92 and e93 pillars the same? I want it to be flush.

For everyone that was worried about the dimmer wire...
Here is a "proof of concept" with wiring exposed to show how easy it is to tap into the dimmer wire, you just tap into the lighting wires for the cigarette lighter backlight. So easy. A sneak preview of one of the engineering sample pods too... not final by any means, this was an early sample, not very smooth because it was just a prototype for fitment and material testing reasons only... Sorry about the video quality... cell phone... basically I start out at full brightness, dim to half brightness from the stalk, you can see the gauge dimming, then I show you where the wires are, and turn off the lights to show how it acts just like the rest of the gauges in the car when the lights are not on. |
