casmith,
There are so many good equipment providers. IMO, the controllers are where providers vary by a lot. Best controllers I've seen are www.torquebyte.com and https://www.wengineering.de/produkte...y/bmw-3er-e9x/

For those who are not spraying a lot of fluid and not trying to fit a flow curve, it doesn't get any easier than a rpm switch in series with a pressure switch. Of course, you can "quantize" a flow curve by repeating the above for more than one nozzle. With a little more ingenuity and logic: 2 nozzles equals 3 levels. 3 nozzles equals 7 levels.
I'm not fan of PWM of the pump. It has a negative effect on atomization at low flow. PWM of a solenoid ends up with the same reliability issues the nitrous guys have. But simple on/off is very reliable. |

Hi. I have an BMW 740d and my tuner is installing meth/water injection system at my car. I will use a 50/50 mixture but I have a doubt. My tuner told me he hade previously the best power gain values using the VP M5 methanol, but I read more than once that for meth/water systems we should use M1. Can somebody help me?
Thank you. Regards |

Generally, M5 vaporizes better than M1. SOI timing may need to be changed less with M5 than M1. But better vaporization also means the 50/50 ratio, that is said to be safe, no longer applies. Then there is the question of what kind of pump seals you have. Chemicals used in M5 are not compatible with EPDM. Last edited by DWR; 08-28-2017 at 07:51 AM.. |

So by your answer I understand that using M5 you can't mix with the water to do the 50/50 mixture and you use it 100% methanol. I will ask him about the pump he is going to install. Thank you |

I have an Aquamist hfs4. It was professionally installed by someone has the same kit in his own car. I consistently get misfires in cylinders three and four whenever it's running. I have upgraded my spark plugs and tightened The gap to 18/1000". It runs flawless with the meth kit off. I have communicated with Richard from many many times without help. I prefer to run a safe 50% meth mix but have tried 60 or 70% with continuous misfires. I've tried the 0.7 and 0.8mm nozzles. Has anyone experienced this does anyone have any pointed advice? I have spent enough on this meth kit that I could have upgraded my turbo and it still doesn't work! Any advice or help is greatly appreciated 👀

Yes still goes to the washer jets. My pump is actually mounted on top of the driver's side strut tower. I dont think there would be room at the washer tank for the pump. Power comes from a location in the DDE area, I cante remember where but it was taken from the same location that the meth install DIYs on here show.

My ability to contribute anything useful ended when he mentioned spark plugs ... :-)

Anyway, 0.018 is a pretty small gap. Only time I have seen the need for that is when: - the spark comes from a magneto, or weak ignition - lots of compression, boost or some combination - low AFR fuel, meaning the mixture is very wet You haven't said anything about any mods/tuning. Pretty sure your are not running a magneto. Pretty sure you aren't running over 20 psi boost. I have driven several 335i that had WOT misfire problems. Coil replacement seems to be the common fix. Unless you are dumping an excessive amount of H2O/Meth, I would look at the health of the ignition. |

All "my" vehicles for the last 20+ years have been diesel. No experience tuning/modifying gas engines. Last year I did venture into the arena of "tuning" my commuter bike, which I've used more than any of my vehicles the last year, so I'm now a human/electric hybrid. Or a Cyborglist ... or Cylcleborg... I put a JR tuning sticker on it recently to give it a few more watts :-)

The Def Tank
I've been working on my W/M inj this week. The Def tank repurposed for water meth fluid and the pump in the drivers side rear fender (where the DEF transfer pump was).
I have looked for people that actually used the def tank for this purpose and have found nothing or nobody sharing that info. Did i miss a post? At this point I am near the end of my install and have loads of experience on this subject. I have taken pictures and will share after its done. Quick FYI there are two stock DEF pumps one on the side in the fender (small low pressure transfer pump) and one on the top of the small def tank (Spray Supply pump with a reversing valve). I am using the Torqbyte Controller. I bought one Rebadged and sold by Twisted Tuning. I suggest Their Kit. twisted-tuning-evolve-mc-1-controller. It is failsafe and has 3D tuneable PC GUI software. Wiring diagram for the DEF system https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...system/hDLWE2q
