Because they know some people are going to buy an M car just because it's an M car and a status symbol not solely for performance. Which is kind of fucked up but, that's the deal. If M's aren't selling it's more because of the economy, gas prices and the stupid high sticker price than the 335. |

I get the sense that BMW will offer their own tune on these cars through their 'Performance" brand - maybe that is why they are toning things down a bit.

Unless, they did give me 29.2 and I don't know.... no one has answered the question of, how do you know what version you are running??? Car seems to be running fine so I'm assuming they didn't change any software. the other question, when and why do they upgrade your software version??

Ironically, there were 7 M3s, including a white E90, on the lot at my dealer. But only 5 335i (one coupe and 4 sedans). These M3s are collecting dust on the lots. The economy is really beginning to impact consumers in the M3 price bracket.

No. Yet this thread gets diluted with things already clearly stated in 29.2 threads (i.e. when and why you get updated, how to tell, etc etc.)
Anyway, my opinion, backed by no one knowing anything including several "in-the-know" people, is that as of now is V30 does NOT exist and this was a false post. |

If enough people complain to the right people, BMW will fix w/e issue with the next progman (if thats the root cause and permanent fix).

World economy slowing > 335i cannibalization of M3 sales, IMHO

Not sure how to answer your dme question. We all already have V80. New cars have V81. And no, of course BMW isn't ripping out old ECU's and replacing our hardware with V81. |

yes 6MT affected too

I just posted on this in an unrelated thread. Did a search and found this one. Glad to hear it was not my imagination!! Maybe that is why my SA is not calling me back. I have had the 6MT 335i since the first run in 2006 and I bought the car, in part, based on the phenomenal throttle response. Got it back from 15k service and noticed some great new features in the iDrive, as well as a note on the receipt saying they upgraded the ECU. Shortly thereafter, I was wondering why I was leaning forward every time I pressed hard on the gas pedal, only to have the car respond like an Audi A4 TurboDiesel almost a second later. To me, this is unacceptable. I got paranoid, wondering if it was just me, and have been playing phone tag with my SA for a couple weeks about it, not wanting to be a pain in the ass. I started wondering if this is something they did in the 2nd half of leases so that I'll upgrade to a seemingly more powerful car when my lease is up. I shoulda checked here earlier. Now the question is, what can I do about it? If you view a lease as a monthly "car service" then this could be seen as a degradation of service and a waste of my money until it is fixed! |
