Ah, that's too bad - thanks for confirming that to be the case.

Thinking of doing this.. couple questions.
1. How can I tell if my airbag will fit the replacement steering wheel? 2. My 2011 335xi Sedan came with the M-sport package and I'd like to keep the ///M badge on the bottom spoke. Are all the cover trims on 3-spoke wheels interchangeable? |

The none-sport steering wheel has a different airbag. I went from none-heated none-sport to heated none-sport => same airbag Then I bought heated sport steering wheel and I had to buy it with the sport airbag. |

I currently have this https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=32_1617 and it looks like I'd need this (not quite an M-Sport but perhaps close enough?) https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=32_1519 Also does anyone know if a heated M-Sport wheel from an F30 work on an E90? |

As for the F series, you would need an emulator/control board that's about €200+ or so to convert the signal from the wheel controls to a signal that our E series understands. But if you are going such route, might as well get an E9x custom wheel with flat bottom, nappa perforated leather etc. You can find them on ebay. |

The trims are also exchangable. Just push the spokes of the wheel into the tabs of the more angular M-Sport trim. This is what I've done on my car as well: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1596605

Going to order the connector parts tomorrow. This place is like crack.. I came into these forums to investigate how to get Carplay working and now I've spent almost $1000 on upgrades! The steering wheel cover is enticing. |

Got it done and would add the following hints and tips. Some of them are for noobies like me
1. When ordering the 3-pin connector 61136931929, don't forget to order the pins with it! I didn't read RealOEM correctly and got an empty shell for the connector. I ended up cannibalizing other connectors I had for pins. 2. To clear up any confusion about the harness you have to make: - The backside of the non-heated clockspring has a 6-pin connector (plus another 12-pin connector). When you look at the heated clockspring both connectors are 12-pin. It's this 'new' 12-pin connector where the wires for the heated steering wheel get connected. You'll be connecting 2 pins from the heated steering wheel switch, plus ground and a +12v fused supply. 3. I used fuse #5 for my +12V supply. On my car this position is unoccupied and according to the wiring diagram it's this fuse location that's used for cars with a heated steering wheel. The nice thing is that the heat turns off with ignition so you don't have to worry about the heated wheel staying on and draining your battery. 4. Before removing your original steering wheel, adjust the wheel height and extent so it's in the middle of its travel. This makes it easier to remove and install the trim pieces which fit together like a toothed clamshell. In all honesty this was the toughest part of the job. Also cable tie your new wiring to the factory harness, up and out of the way - there is no clearance on the lower side of the trim assembly. hope that helps.. happy to answer any questions! |

Sure you need the following:
1. Female pins: Qty 4 61130005197 for the 61136954518 12-pin connector https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/product/1956991-new 2. Male pins: Qty 3 61130005198 for the 61136931929 3-pin connector https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Pin-c...-/282671546923 I would inquire with your local BMW dealership on these first. They may have local stock and perhaps lower pricing. I was lucky and got the parts the next day. Last edited by Canuck335; 09-17-2019 at 11:16 AM.. |

Since I'd prefer those without cable, I was looking for them and I found part number 61131393703 (instead of 61130005198) and part number 61138369696 (instead of 61130005197 with cable). Are those the same parts just without the cable? Thanks again for your help! |

I did this retrofit, however, my heater turns off after about 10 seconds. Based on my research, I'm thinking I need to replace the heated steering wheel module. Does anyone know the part number for this or where I can get one?
Thanks! |

Wow nice write up! I definitely would like the heated wheel upgrade in my winter car. Jealous of the heat in my wife's X5, it is a great option for those of us who endure 6 months of cold every year.
