The way I invision it, it could go wither way... although from the top would be ideal... Easier to put on/take off, away from the heat in the engine.
But with either design you would have to make sure that each vent cover would secure tightly to the vents.

yeah I was thinking if its from the top, it would need to be securely fasten, pretty sure that if you are getting this hood, aside from looks the performance is very key ... and if you are driving pretty fast you don't want the plugs flying into your face

Well the quick and dirty solution for a secure top fitting cover would be to secure it from underneath through the vents themselves via a high tensile strength/heat resistant strap.
Plus side - This would require no modification of the hood.
Down side - It would take a few more minutes to put on and take off because of the need to access the hood.

Vorsteiner did offer rain covers for the E46 VRS Vented hood but found that they were rather bulky and annoying to deal with. The decision comes down to what you have installed in your engine bay. If there are electrically sensitive components or you are worried about an open air intake, go with the sealed vent option.

With that said, given the amount of open vented hoods we have done for the E46, E36, A4, E90 and now E92...it has never been an issue and I don't foresee it being one.

PAKMAN it's so interesting to me how you are so respectful and courteous to Kenny in person (like last time you came to exchange those bulbs) and then you come home and argue/bash us online. Hercules behind the keyboard?

LOL, it's hard to understand what the Internet and hiding behind the keyboard can do to someone. I think this is just his online persona and it shows in multiple threads.

The hood is already in production. It's special order at this point, and will take 3-4 weeks to fill the order.
