People are asking me don't I have to change like fuel lines and all that to run ethanol since it's more corrosive? I suppose our cars stock are ok to handle ethanol stock? |

The stock fuel line is a type of plastic, not sure whether it can withstand regular Ethanol use or not. Fuel-it recommends upgrading to an E85 approved fuel line which is what I run in conjunction with an ethanol sensor.

The stock fuel line is a joke compared to E85 approved solutions haha... it looks and feels like a drinking straw.

If you're gonna listen to "car people" at least make sure they have some knowledge of what the N54 is and what it's capable of, etc. You can also just search it out yourself. |

For the fuel gauge technically that might not be right... when the tank is full the needle stays above the top mark for longer than other levels. |

If this is going to be this much trouble, I really think a $300 fuel pump upgrade is worth while.
That way at the track you aren't limiting yourself to E30/E40. Get a fuel pump and run E60 map to really make a difference. Don't get me wrong, E30 is better than 93. But for all the effort involved, may as well have an ace up your sleeve and make it worth the effort. I only picked up .4 and 4mph going from 93 to E40 map(not saying thats a bad upgrade, but theres a lot on the table still imo). A low side upgrade will afford me more aggressive maps and make ethanol blending much more worth my time. And you sound like you don't want to invest anything in it, but a custom tune for both 93 and E60 would really tie this all together. OTS maps can only do so much.

I've personally said to myself I was stopping with performance expenses after inter cooler so haha. Will be staying with pre-made maps and run E30 at the drag just for fun and see.

From the videos and other writings I've seen, you literally take the amount of gas you plan on putting into the tank & x by .25, .40 or .60 to get a number of gallons you put into an empty tank with e85.
So, for example you planned on using .25 at the track and wanted a full tank of gas. If you had a car running on fumes, you'd use 15 gallons and x .25. So, the first 3.75 gallons would be e85. The rest would be 93 octane. Most people who track their cars and use e85, probably have an upgrades LPFP. |

Just use this calculator. no reason to guess; http://www.georgebelton.com/E85Calculator.php I always try and overshoot 5% to compensate for E85 quality variables and let fuel trims handle the compensation. @Fcobra94 was dead on with the .8/gal per hash mark, I just used that last night and only missed by .1

Wouldn't be the worst idea to just fill up with the blend completely, burn off some with your commute and let it learn while doing some pulls and then hit the track. I know how much gas I use every day, you could spec it so youd be between 1/2 and 1/4 when you were doing your drag runs and bring a can with you to top off if you use too much(get a lot of runs). Optional obviously, but makes filling up easy and also gives the DME some learn time
