Current plug for post 12/2009 328 according to RealOEM is: NGK LZFR6AP11GS -- BMW part 12120037663

The current plug for a 325/330 and earlier 328 continues to be:

Bosch FR-7-NPP-332 and NGK PLZFR6A-11S. Both now have the same bmw part number 12122158253. The NGK plugs is listed as "high power" while the original plugs are not.

It appears that BMW gave a single part number for both the Bosch and NGK plug that are the last ones listed on RealOEM, so that they can be used interchangeably at the dealer. Per the post on previous page:

Forgot to add that some of the new plugs [from the dealer] were NGK and some were BOSCH (same part numbers on each spark plug box).

I'd still prefer to use the same make for all 6.

Picked up Bosch oem plugs from O'reillys (sold for 1/2 of what it goes for at Tischer)
I had 1 Plug from Tischer to compare it to. They look to be the exact same thing minus
the label and the notch on the tip. see pics:

Question is, Are all Bosch plugs part #FRZNPP332 pre gapped from the factory like Tischer's is or not?

Always double check the gap. Don't assume, even if they are pre-gapped. The oem plugs at oreillys were suppse to be pre-gapped, but they all had the wrong gap settings. Better to check then having to do the job again because your car is idling rough.

Well, the DIY is not perfect. I left out a few important details which I neglected to do myself. As stated, I am not a mechanic.

The additional inputs have been great and very informative. This is why I posted a DIY so that I can get feed back. Fortunately for me, the car has not missed a beat since the spark plug changed. Thanks to Tischer for great OEM products.

In addition, I see that a few things have changed-like different spark plugs are now avaiable for our 06 e90. I will definitely refer back to this for the next plugs change (if I end up keeping the car way beyond 150K miles - given that it continues to behave well to my liking )

There is a Porsche service bulletin to not use Anti-Sieze "anti-seize compound seems to interfere with the proper grounding of the plugs."

We can use a tiny bit of DiElectric grease on the ceramic top of the plug or the rubber boot of the ignition coil to make removing the ignition coil easier in the future.

Check the gap of your old plugs, all six of the factory platinum Bosch plugs had a .043 gap, the box and website both say .040, I adjusted the new ones to match with a wire gap tool, car is running exactly the same as with the old plugs.

When I gap the plugs to .040 it starts rough after sitting dormant overnight (hot soak) and idled rough. Yes, I cleared all adaptations using a BT tool, still idled and started rough after a hot soak.

We can also use an 8" extension for the rear two plugs instead of removing the bar that runs over top of them.

I don't think so, the alarm switch is on the opposite side (driver's side). I was informed that the item circled above is a AUC sensor for the A/C.

Anyway, that part is 64116988303, which is the "AUC sensor". Basically, your car has automatic recirculation and that sensor helps the system determine when to open/close the A/C system for fresh air.

Since we are right there R/R'ing the spark plugs - what about R/R of the Ignition Coils?
Do we replace with OEM or something with more performance like Okada Projects Plasma Direct Ingition Coils as an upgrade? And when do we replace the ignition coils - at the time of failure?

There is a plastic piece that you need to lift up to unlock the coil and that also releases the wire harnes plugged into the coil. Then put on some gloves and pull that sucker out of there, its a bitch but it will come out with enough force. Make sure you do it when the engine is cold, when it is hot the rubber and plastic has expanded and will not come out without the assistance

Plasma Direct Ingition Coils maybe overkill for a NA engine.OEM perfectly fine. consensus seems to be around 100k. so i personally will change all six with my plugs at 100k.

Just joined the BMW club after a gap of 7 years- ahh that smooth ride after a long time. Now I know what I was missing. Got a 2006 330i E90 with 56K miles. Planning to do coolant flush and engine air filter at 60K. Is that OK? Planning to do spark plugs, ignition coils, thermostat and water pump at 100K. Is that OK? Eager to hear your opinions.

The Porsche bulletin refers to a non copper-based anti-seize compound.

Bentley and BMW specify to use a copper-based anti-seize. Copper being an excellent electrical conductor, there won't be any grounding issues, and will likely improve conductivity.

Encouraged by the post, I've also decided to change my spark plugs on my own. I'm at 101500 on a 2006 330i, so the plugs are overdue. When I contacted the dealer, they were selling Bosch plugs at $24 each. Online, I found NGK plugs for $11 at Partsgeek. Any suggestions and what about gaps?Thanks!
