That is just NOT right at all.
Your the reason why there is not boost gauges in the car. It is normal and will drop much lower than that in Dec.....

Order it here without a hassle and the part number end in 881. They don't have any old pumps left nor can you order the old number anymore.

Well, I'm shit out of luck. I jus called bmwna to see if my hpfp was on the recall list and it isn't!
So I'm stuck with my hPFP, that hasn't noticeably given me any problems whatsoever, and I'm stuck with REV2 as well.
This blows.
Good luck kelvin and keep us updated.

Ok guys, I just spoke with the owner of one of the biggest Dinan distributors in the Southeast and he was very much aware of the situation as he had spoken to Steve Dinan himself because several customers had issues with the power reduction after the revision.

It turns out that the decision to decrease the aggressiveness of the original tune was actually mandated by BMW. Dinan had to comply with the changes they requested.

He also told me that there was no way of going back to the original because Dinan supplies them with updated software card and dealers are always required to send back the old cards.

The challenge now is to find a Dinan dealer that somehow might have kept the old program card.

The plot thinkens...

(but maybe we both had the Fuel Pumps go out right after the revision 2...)

Good Work Kelvin! I knew we weren't crazy like orb, bubbles and the rest of the dinan slurpers said!-(No offense)
So now, how do we either a) get back what we initially "signed up" and paid for, or B)get a partial refund.

I never had problems with dinan until this. I had stage1, intake, exhaust, etc.. on my '05 M3 with no problems at all.
I will not tolerate this nonsense of lies and deceit. They basically did the old bait and switch, Pay for one product, then when your not looking, they take it away from you and give you a cheaper replacement and try to pas it off as the original.
There is no doubt I will be contacting a lawyer to see what my options are at this point.
I expect this type of BS from the "piggy-back tuners", NOT FROM DINAN!

I don't want a refund or some partial money settlement but I do want what I paid for! I specifically asked Dinan BEFORE i accepted the upgrade if any other performance parameters where changed besides the throttle response and the emmission and they told me several times that nothing was changed.

I don't know if the Dinan reps are 100% in the know about the technical aspects of the tunes (they are probably just salesman / troubleshooters) but either way , whether they knew it or not...

We got screwed out of Stage 3 like power.

That's all I want as well, but it doesn't look like we have any chance of that happening since all rev1 cards are invalid now. Dinan issues new cards each month to its dealers. There is zero chance a dealer still has the old rev1 and would be willing to flash our cars with it unless dinan authorizes it!

Just curious, is it a correct assumption that neither of you are running Dinan exhaust?

Correct. I'm stock except for rev2. Why do you ask?
Sorry about the back handed comment, really no offense was intended. It's just all you guys kept telling us it wasn't the flash and i KNEW right away there was a power drop from the minute i got the car back.
You guys don't have to apologize for all the things you previously said about me either

I must be losing it, but I don't remember posting anything negative about you.

Regardless, Happy T-day.

I'm not sure if you guys remember but when I got the rev2 I thought I was feeling the dreaded turbo lag. I couldn't understand why my car was less responsive and not seemingly as powerful. I called the dealer multiple times and went back and forth with them and dinan to no avail. They explained to me that their flash overwrites the bmw software so there was no way I could have more turbo lag than before. They also assured me that I was flashed to stage 2rev2, not stage 1 which I thought was a real possibility since there was certainly a drop-off in power.
Now it's all coming clear! Dinan did reduce power output on rev2 and did not change their press release or any documentation on this flash. They also decieved their customers who had bought rev1 initially thinking they were getting 384hp for the life of the flash.... only thing is, they secretly made us update rev1 to rev2 by feeding us lies and saying the only change was throttle response....which I never had an issue with anyway.
This is a totally unfair business practice and once I sit down with my lawyer I will explore legal options. Not to mention I will be contacting the BBB on Monday as well.

I don't have any other mods on the car.

BTW

I value and respect the opinions of both Bubbles and Orb as they have both been very helpful to myself as well as many other members of the forum on several occassions. They are great contributors to this community.

Thanks to all for the input!

All I'm saying is you guys kept telling me the flash was the same power as before and it was my hpfp causing my problems. You all swore up and down that when I replaced my hpfp all my power would be back(and possibly more!)
now if we all believe kelvin's posts then we know Dinan did some shady shit with this stage 2rev2 flash just to stay on BMW's good side... so bmw could still sell the M3 as the fastest, most powerful 3 series and justify charging $20,000 more for the //M. Why else would BMW demand dinan reduce power on their flash?

With these tiny turbos it is difficult to get a big difference in dyno performance from the original stage 2 flash to justify the price of stage 3.

Most people will just look at dyno numbers without realizing the benefits of the large intercooler and the improved oil cooler after 20 laps around the track.

I agree totally. Maybe dinan could offer us a STEEP discount to upgrade us to stage 3 for all this trouble and deceit The we will have our "original" power back...- although at this moment I'm not sure I want to give dinan any more of my hard-earned money with the way they handled this.

Before calling lawyers and such.. Try calling Dinan directly, I am sure that if enough of us raise the issue, we will get better results!

I'll try to give them a call tomorrow or monday. BUt my guess is nothing at all will come of it.
Do you really think one customer on his own has more power than BMWNA to change a flash? I honestly think it will take a group of us banding together or a BIG lawsuit(possibly class-action) to really get this issue resolved. I don't want to have to go through all this but there really seems like no other option at this point.

Well if what you guys are saying is true I am fucked. I have the rev 1 and I think something may be wrong with the car, possibly a boost leak. Need to take it in for service. Do you think they will try and reflash me? Car seems to be a little bit slower right now and not as fun. If it permanently becomes like this I will be pissed.

Don't worry, you can decline the BMW software update but you have to make sure they know not to do it. They asked me if I wanted it when I went in for service 1 and I declined.

No problem.

This was my dyno. Everyone thought I was crazy as well when I told them the car felt slower after the revision. I loved the rev I flash. I still enjot rev II but feel decived with thier shady advertising and not getting what I paid for. My dyno numbers definatley don't come close to the advertised numbers. Definatley a bait and switch. Let me know if anyone gets anywere with this.

From Kelvin's earlier post, it sounds like BMW was about to come down on Dinan unless they toned down the power with the revised flash. Personally, I'd rather have that relationship still exist than the extra 10hp. If I didn't care about that relationship, I would have just gotten a Procede.
