Thanks alot for all the comments, they have been really helpful!

I was planning to go the dealers to test drive somecars this weekend, but didnt manage to get that far as I found the perfect car privately and it ended up being a manual 330i!

Picked it up today and been loving it. I did notice that the engine is not a torquey as my old 330ci, but it's very rev happy ... a bit like my old intergra.

Btw, does anyone know how to cancel the Satnav route?

Spec is as follows:-

Black with black leather.
1 owner
56 reg
10,000 miles
1 yr tax
1 yr bmw warranty
Sat nav pro
connected assist
Bluetooth
voice comtrol
sunroof
lumber support
elec blind
side blinds
rear tints
auto dim mirror
folding mirrors
boot storage compartment
through load
isofix
xenon
storage compartment pack
rear folding headrests
cd changer
Logic 7
Sliding Armrest

Nice, get some pics up, shame the spec was a bit basic though.

Will post some photo's once i have a moment.

There are a couple of minor scatches I need to sort, but I think the price reflect that.

Just out of interest, how much would you guys value this car at?

Also, does anyone know if foglights are standard?

Nice choice. Front and rear fogs should be standard,

I'm assuming this is an SE, in which case trade in value is around £ 13,650.

A LOT of car for the money and it should be worth much more in my opinion,

Enjoy !

Christ on a bike.

That is properly depressing.

Trade in value for that car is £15,000 in average condition:

http://www.virtual-showroom.co.uk/sc...C56&mileage=10

The fact that someone was prepared to sell privately for £12.5k suggests that the dealer was offering well below £12k.

The market must be seriously screwed.

I'm very very relieved that I backed out of buying a new car a few weeks ago, because I would have been totally gutted if I had ended up selling my car for anything like that money.

Looks like I will be keeping it another 2 years at least.

The car was supposed to retain 40% value after 3 years / 60k miles, which assuming you paid £32k new SHOULD mean £ 12.8k in Sept 2009.

EDIT: to turn off route guidance in the sat nav either push the idrive left and click on the icon 2nd from top, or click on the destination on the text view and select cancel.

If your software hasn't been updated it's well worth trying to get BMW to do it. Easy way to tell if you have the old version is to set the steering wheel button to 'next audio source'. If it lets you switch from radio to aux input then it's good, if not you need to try to wangle an update.

Move the Idrive controller to the left and press down on the up arrow with a dot above, this cancels the route/guidance.

Interested in what you think of Logic7 as I have this coming on my new e90..

I think I just got lucky as dealer had offered the guy 13.5k, but that was on a commission basis. When I picked it up, he did realise that he had sold it a bit on the cheap side, but was like 'what the hell'.

Ok - figured out how to stop the satnav, thanks. Also is there difference between the 2006 / 2007 sat nav screen? Apparently mine was replaced with the updated screen under warranty.

Also, the idrive knob doesnt seem to want to scroll past the first page of my phonebook. Does work if you give it a bit of force, but doesnt feel right. Is this a common problem?

Yes - they changed the background colour and some of the functions ie. improvements.

The idrive should scroll past the first page tbh, mine always did. But you shouldn't have to force it! Should be smoothly and gently done.

Excellent spec. and price btw - nice one.

The earlier knobs had force-feedback/resistance while the later ones are loose.

Yeh, mine has force feedback, but surely the resistance shouldnt kick in when you reach the bottom of the bottom of the first page.

Yes, I knew about the difference in force feedback/loose as the 335d was the loose variety, but the force fedback one on my 330i M sport didn't behave like yours from what you have said. Mine was an '06 plate. Maybe someone else will be along with an idea.

Yes, then it will vibrate slightly as you go against the resistance. It moves freely up and down within a window.

That's not a fair statement to make about the 335d. I have stood at the back end of a 335d and was absolutely stunned when the owner stepped over and cut the engine. Three feet from the exhaust pipe I didn't even know it had been running. No noise, no smoke, no smell, no vibration. I've even driven behind this same vehicle without seeing so much as a condensation cloud but heard a throaty roar.

Twenty years ago you'd cough and sputter behind a diesel, yes. But not with modern engine technology. As they say, that was then, this is now.

+1 or the 330d engine or in fact any modern, sophisticated diesel engine - especially those with a DPF (diesel particulate filter in case your knowledge doesn't stretch that far).

Great 3rd post btw.
