Reports out saying that Mercedes will not bring any upgrades to Imola because they still have not completely fixed the underlying problems plaguing the car.

Outside of what we already know of the W13, I can't understand how the W13 is still in its "beta" stage after 3 races. There's nothing anyone can say to convince me that Mercedes doesn't have the know how or expertise to build a proper race car.

It's not that they don't know how to build an F1 car, it's the mechanism in which porpoising is caused on their car that they don't understand. It's not a simple phenomenon either because not only is the floor stalling a part of the equation but sympathetic resonance in the suspension and the floor is making it worse. Then there's the question about where in the floor does down force get generated and how that shifts forward and back during porpoising and how to stop it from upsetting the car.

All this while trying to correlate real world data with simulation, and trying to model porpoising. It is not an easy or quick task especially with budget and simulation restrictions.

Not saying it's easy but I'm referring more to the relative nature and issue that Red Bull and Ferrari have seem to have more under control where they're fighting for championship points in comparison to Mercedes where they're seem like they're stuck.

I was excited for a 3 team fight for the title but doesn't look like Mercedes will be involved too much.

It's based on the car design, the w13 is just immensely complex compared to the other 2 in terms of the porpoising issue.

It could be due to the larger exposed and unsupported floor structure due to the zero pod design. Then this larger more flexible floor resonates with the porpoising causing more issues for merc.

It could be their suspension design was off.

It could be a bunch of little things all combined together making for a really big problem.

But it just happens, things happen sometimes and you can't stop it. Look at ferrari they are a top team and they struggled for years.

More ppl leaving Merc through stress and pressure will compound Merc's problems, could be Wolff's world is slowly crashing down around him.

I doubt that's the case, it's still the case Mercedes has the best work environment:
1) see it say it fix it philosophy
2) no blame philosophy: toto still affirmed no one is to blame for the w13's lack of performance
3) $10k bonus for winning

This is still the best working environment in F1 - Nico Rosberg commented on how impressive Mercedes was at treating employees well. This is shown by the retention of F1 employees for so long. Sure some have left but that's bound to happen when you have other teams expanding and aggressively poaching employees via higher pay.

Overall F1 in general is high pressure high pace and it is the same for all teams. So that's not something new.

Merc is on given time now, they have taken a wrong turn which needs a new car and I don't believe that Wolff will just let it go to the people behind this years bad car, then why did they name it W13, you do know it's an unlucky number.

Yeah the w13 sucks, but it is a learning experience if they can fix such bad porpoising.

Again I doubt toto would bash his team because he knows what it takes to build a strong team, and toxicity isn't a part of it.

I'm not superstitious so I don't care, also I didn't name the car so again it wasn't up to me.

We don't know what happens behind the scenes, what you see up front about how Wolff 'doesn't blame anybody and everything is ticketyboo' is just happy wallpaper plastered over the real thing.

We absolutely don't know what occurs behind the scenes, but ex employees and ex drivers always said the mercedes work culture is very good.

Yep; I remember reading in 2008 when the new version of Honda's CBR1000RR was coming out, Honda engineers reduced the thickness of the plastic on the gauge cluster just to shave some weight from the bike.

Yes there are, but it doesn't restrict everything and some Merc employees like Kyle have said the work experience is very good, it is high pace high pressure (like all F1 teams) but he enjoys that feeling, and he said the Christmas parties were insane. But that's all he's allowed to say.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think some members here work for the constructors themselves, know everything from the engineering shortcomings to the social dynamics of the teams.

Fuel line is the cheapest part that can stop a car.

'HP fuel line' a strengthened one will be fitted and they said it probably failed due to minute bouncing so the Ferrari and Merc ones must be be really strong with their porpoise action.

That's what I was thinking as well .
Too bad for MAX , he lost with his 2 DNF +/- 40 driver points ..
