Even if you stall, you just press the clutch quickly and the car starts back up. Its really idiot proof.

Not sure we are talking about the same things here....The koenigsegg cc850 gearbox is quite literally both an Automatic and Manual transmission with a clutch pedal in the 1 vehicle. You can switch between automatic and fully manual while driving.

And yes, please explain the difference between auto & manual transmission for me. I daily drive a manual transmission but do not know how they work or how to use the google machine.

When you downshift. Not sure about upshift. From 2 onwards it is great. However it's still not notchy.

it literally hold the correct RPM and you can dump the clutch...i am not a big fan but any car i sit in whether it be a s2000, rx8, m3, vantage v12 ....after enough ass time I can drive it smoothly. the v12 vantage takes a huge curve.

the first gen g35 had one of the strangest engagement points and arguably the hardest manual to drive yet it was doable. so its always the driver unless your transmission is broken.

anyways on topic...kill the manual. I don't see myself intrested in future cars anyways besides point a to b. everything is over styled and way to busy. i would like a tesla for a daily appliance driver. but all my cars in my stable will be my 6mt f80 and older

I'm very certain after a few hours I'd be a pro and it would be an after thought. However the overall experience was not what I hoped it would have been. I have experienced better packaging. Is it downright bad? No, was it what I was hoping for? No.

As stated I used stalling wrong, it's more of jerking and taking some muscle memory to figure out bite points. I also stated I track with manuals, it's not that manual is difficult, I just wasn't a fan of bmws implementation. I own a manual Carrera S and I went in thinking it would be similar.

Yeah, there was an F30 xDrive manual.

It's sad to see the manual going away especially on the special M models. I understand the reasons why, and it's one of the main reasons I got the F87 manual.

I have a manual 340 Xdrive…with track handling pack. It's a 2016…I think 2018 was the last year.

I bought it used in 2019 with only 16k miles on it, and I had it shipped from Alaska to NJ.

It was not easy to find…but I did.

I wonder if they mean "No Lift Shift"... or rev hang. One more strike against modern manual trannys.

Problem is that, in the M2C anyways, you have to completely change how you use the throttle when you go from efficiency to sport (less so for sport+). The biggest drawback of the MT is that BMW builds in a clutch delay valve. Just means that you really can't dump the clutch. Great when driving slow, but its anoying when giving it the beans.

If it's at all like the 1-series it's super easy to remove.

On topic, let's see a M version of the Z4 so it can get a manual. I'd put money down right this minute.

It's
Just
Sad
That it's not an option on a 2/3/4 series non-M car or *any* convertible

The new GTS is powered by the same 4.0 flat six as in GT4.

I was dead set on getting another manual but now im older and needing a car with some cargo capacity looks like It wont happen. I do have my E36 M3 i still drive if i feel the need to use my left leg while driving.

BTW I think the decline of manual transmissions is related to smart phones. Its hard to use a Iphone while using a stick and most people would rather give up the stick than to put down the phone to drive.

I just think most people don't enjoy doing more work driving a car than they have to. How many people do you think will be happier to have self driving cars when they are both available and generally believed to be safe?

Yep, look left or right at an intersection when stopped. 100% this. All ages. All playing with their phone.

I keep saying this. All autos have done is make driving convenient enough to be distracted. Just think, with manual only there will be less cellphone related accidents. It also means little kids won't accidentally drive over their parents while learning since they'll stall. Those not physically fit to drive would take an Uber. Ultimately less time spent distracted more time driving. Maybe people will drive more smoothly to avoid stop and go traffic. Manuals could save us all.

This is not an issue if you are using CarPlay or Android Auto. Voice command eliminates the need to hold a phone.
